1. The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the Vishwashanti Ahimsa Sammelan at Mangi Tungi, Nasik, Maharashtra.
भारताचे राष्ट्रपती श्री रामनाथ कोविंद यांनी नाशिकच्या मंगी तुंगी येथील विश्वशांती अहिंसा संमेलनाचे उद्घाटन केले.

2. Keeping in view the detrimental effects and also the importance of the festival, Ministry has initiated a “Harit–Diwali” campaign.

3. State-run Bank of India has closed down its operations at Jersey in the Channel Islands with effect from October 18.

4. The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Internet City (DIC) to facilitate expansion of Indian businesses in the Middle East.
नॅशनल असोसिएशन ऑफ सॉफ्टवेयर अँड सर्व्हिसेस कंपन्यांनी (नासकॉम) सांगितले की, मध्यपूर्वीच्या भारतीय व्यवसायांच्या विस्तारास सुलभ करण्यासाठी त्यांनी दुबई इंटरनेट सिटी (डीआयसी) सोबत एक सामंजस करारावर स्वाक्षरी केली आहे.

5. The Ministry of Women and Child Development is organizing the 5th edition of the Women of India Organic Festival from 26th October to 4th November, 2018 at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Janpath Road, New Delhi.

7. Tea Board of India is planning to launch an app aimed at guiding small growers, whose share in total tea production is increasing. The proposed name of the app is Chai Sahay (tea help).
चहा बोर्ड ऑफ इंडिया लहान उत्पादकांना मार्गदर्शन करण्याच्या उद्देशाने एक अॅप लॉन्च करण्याचा विचार करीत आहे. ऐपचे प्रस्तावित नाव चाई सहाय (चहा मदत) आहे.

8. China’s first private research university has been officially inaugurated in Zhejiang Province’s Hangzhou city. Five Nobel laureates attended the founding ceremony of Westlake University in Hangzhou. It aimed at pushing forward national higher education reform.
चीनचे पहिल्या खाजगी संशोधन विद्यापीठ अधिकृतपणे झेजियांग प्रांतात हेंझझो शहरामध्ये उद्घाटन केले. हंगझोझमधील वेस्टलेक विद्यापीठाच्या संस्थापक समारंभात पाच नोबेल विजेते उपस्थित होते. या विद्यापीठाचा राष्ट्रीय उच्च शिक्षण सुधारणा पुढे ढकलण्याचा हेतू आहे.

9. US-based Dalit writer Sujatha Gidla has won 2018 Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize for her debut book “Ants Among Elephants: An Untouchable Family and the Making of Modern India”.
अमेरिकेतील दलित लेखिका सुजाता गिडाला यांनी “दि एंट्स इनहेथ एलिफंट्स: अन अस्पछेबल फॅमिली अँड द मेकिंग ऑफ मॉडर्न इंडिया” या त्यांच्या प्रथम पुस्तकासाठी 2018 शक्ती भट्ट प्रथम पुस्तक पुरस्कार जिंकला आहे.

10. Japanese-born Marine biologist Osamu Shimomura, who won the Nobel Prize in chemistry, has died. He was 90.
जपान मध्ये जन्मलेल्या समुद्री जीवविज्ञानी ओसामु शिमोमूरा, यांनी रसायनशास्त्रातील नोबेल पुरस्कार जिंकला होता त्यांचे निधन झाले आहे. ते 90 वर्षांचे होते.
