एक अखिल भारतीय परीक्षा गेट (GATE) उम्मीदवारों को इंजीनियरिंग और प्रौद्योगिकी के क्षेत्र में विभिन्न विषयों की पूर्ण समझ के लिए है| गेट (GATE) भारतीय राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान संस्थान (आईआईएससी) बैंगलोर द्वारा राष्ट्रीय समन्वय बोर्ड गेट (GATE) उच्च सिक्षा विभाग, मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय (एमएचआरडी) भारत सरकार और सात भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकीसंस्थान (आईआईटी) की तरफ से आयोजित किया जाता है| इन आठ संस्थानों के पास गेट (GATE) परीक्षा आयोजित करने का एकमात्र अधिकार है| गेट (GATE) का मुख्य उदेश्य विद्यार्थियों की गुणवत्ता का परिक्षण करना और मुल्यांकन करना है, की क्या वे भारत के प्रिमियम संस्थानों में उच्चतर अध्ययन के लिए योग्य है, या नही है|
