To be a Master in General Knowledge, takes time. It require Patience. There is no book that can make you an expert in General Knowledge. The key is Observation. Curiosity is the second most important element in order to know about the world around you and the things that happened in past. 1 year is not enough to know, what happened in the last 1000 years or it is impossible to learn about the world just by sitting in a library. And yes, I am talking about examination questions.
Read. Read quality Newspapers. E.g. The Hindu. Make it a Habit. Not just watch pictures also read the content. If you see any unfamiliar thing note it in your mind. Soon you will see the same thing somewhere else. Read Books. Good books not Chetan Bhagat. Books related to your field of interest. Then they will not be a burden anymore. Read biography and autobiography of great persons. If you want to learn History/Geography/Polity/Science/Economics first revise your 6 to 12th standard NCERT books. After this you will leave Very few things behind, which can be covered examination vise. Like this or any other.
