| 1. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has added a new facilitation measure for trusted manufacturers in line with the Union Budget 2026–27 announcement by the Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs. The program allows a new group of importers called Eligible Manufacturer Importers (EMIs) to pay their customs duties later. | 2. Alkaline hydrolysis, also known as water cremation, is now legal in Scotland, making it the first country in the UK to do so. The change is a big step forward in funeral law and is the biggest change since cremation was made legal in Scotland in 1902. | 3. Tamil Nadu has once again shown that it is India’s top state for organ donation after death, with 57 donors in the first two months of 2026—almost one donation a day. The Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (Transtan) is in charge of the program. They have built a structured and open system over the past 20 years. | 4. Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, will be in New Delhi from March 5 to 7 for the 11th Raisina Dialogue, India’s top conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics. His visit shows that Nairobi wants to strengthen its diplomatic and economic ties with India and make Kenya a key entry point to Africa. | 6. Scientists have found fossils of Earth’s oldest animals in rocks that are more than 541 million years old. This pushes back the timeline of complex life. The find suggests that soft-bodied sea sponges were some of the first animals to live in the oceans of the Earth, long before the Cambrian explosion.
