| 1. Germany has declared its intention to gradually eliminate components of its 5G network equipment that were manufactured by Chinese telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE. This decision was made to safeguard national security and is a component of a broader strategy to reduce the economy’s reliance on Beijing. The action is comparable to the European Union’s declaration regarding the potential security hazards associated with excessive dependence on Chinese technology. German officials have emphasised the critical nature of safeguarding critical information networks, referring to cyberattacks as an existential peril.

| 2. The Consumer Affairs Ministry intends to modify the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. The objective of the modification is to mandate that critical information regarding pre-packaged products sold in stores that exceed 25 kilogrammes or 25 litres be disclosed to the public. | 6. China’s defence ministry recently disclosed that Russian and Chinese naval forces collaborated to patrol the northern and western Pacific Ocean. | 8. The Philippines was recently chosen as the location for the board of the “Loss and Damage” fund.
