| 1. To deter businesses from engaging in greenwashing—that is, fraudulent environmental claims—the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) in India has instituted new regulations. The intention is to shield customers from false claims regarding the environmental friendliness of a good or service that mislead them in their choice. Companies today have to offer scientific evidence for any environmental claims they make.

| 2. Set to launch in November 2024 is PROBA-3, under European Space Agency (ESA). Combining many European nations with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), this is a novel endeavour. At the recent SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad, Pakistan, India’s External Affairs Minister engaged in an informal conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. The exchanges have been described as more positive than in previous encounters. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Governments is the second-highest council in the organization, following the SCO Council of Heads of States.

| 6. In Rajasthan, the illicit construction of a complex within the buffer zone of the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve has been halted by the Rajasthan forest department. Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, as of the 2023 census, is home to 71 tigers. Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve, Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, and Dhlopur-Karauli Tiger Reserve are the five tiger reserves in Rajasthan. There are 55 Tiger Reserves in India.

| 8. The 62nd anniversary of the Battle of Walong, which occurred during the 1962 conflict with China, is being commemorated by the Indian Army through a month-long series of events. Indian troops, despite being outnumbered and lacking in resources, effectively halted the Chinese army’s advance for 27 days in the difficult terrain of Kibithu, Walong, and Namti Tri Junction (Tiger’s Mouth) during the battle.
