| 6. In order to confront the accelerated urbanisation that is occurring throughout Africa, the Africa Urban Forum (AUF) was convened in Addis Ababa from September 4-6, 2024. Urbanisation, or the expansion of cities, was characterised as a “irreversible trend,” indicating that it is an unstoppable phenomenon that necessitates meticulous management. The forum convened a diverse group of individuals, including government officials, city planners, and experts, to deliberate on the development of cities that are economically robust, socially equitable, and environmentally favourable.
