| 4. A rare bamboo fossil found in Manipur’s Imphal Valley has given us a lot of new information about how plants evolved and how they survived in the Late Pleistocene. The 37,000-year-old specimen, which was dug up from the silt-rich sediments of the Chirang River, has thorn scars and structural characteristics that are almost never encountered in bamboo fossils.
