1. According to the ‘Global Slavery Index 2023’ report by the Walk Free Foundation, the prevalence of modern slavery has increased globally. The report reveals that the number of people living in conditions of modern slavery has reached 50 million, indicating a worrisome 25% rise in the past five years. This highlights the urgent need for stronger efforts to combat modern slavery and protect the rights and dignity of those affected.
वॉक फ्री फाउंडेशनच्या ‘ग्लोबल स्लेव्हरी इंडेक्स 2023’ अहवालानुसार आधुनिक गुलामगिरीचे प्रमाण जागतिक स्तरावर वाढले आहे. अहवालात असे दिसून आले आहे की आधुनिक गुलामगिरीच्या परिस्थितीत जगणाऱ्या लोकांची संख्या 50 दशलक्षांपर्यंत पोहोचली आहे, जी गेल्या पाच वर्षांत चिंताजनक 25% वाढ दर्शवते. हे आधुनिक गुलामगिरीचा सामना करण्यासाठी आणि प्रभावित झालेल्या लोकांच्या हक्क आणि प्रतिष्ठेचे संरक्षण करण्यासाठी मजबूत प्रयत्नांची तातडीची गरज हायलाइट करते.

2. The 76th annual World Health Assembly took place in Geneva, Switzerland, from 21st to 30th May 2023. It was held at the World Health Organization (WHO) Headquarters and brought together health ministers and delegates from member countries to discuss important global health issues.
76 वी वार्षिक जागतिक आरोग्य सभा 21 ते 30 मे 2023 या कालावधीत स्वित्झर्लंडमधील जिनिव्हा येथे झाली. ती जागतिक आरोग्य संघटनेच्या (WHO) मुख्यालयात आयोजित करण्यात आली आणि जागतिक आरोग्यविषयक महत्त्वाच्या समस्यांवर चर्चा करण्यासाठी सदस्य देशांतील आरोग्य मंत्री आणि प्रतिनिधींना एकत्र आणले.

3. The Supreme Court of India recently provided clarification on the legal provisions governing government contracts made under the President’s name. The court’s ruling aimed to bring clarity and establish guidelines for such contracts, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal procedures.
भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने नुकतेच राष्ट्रपतींच्या नावाखाली केलेल्या सरकारी करारांना नियंत्रित करणाऱ्या कायदेशीर तरतुदींचे स्पष्टीकरण दिले. न्यायालयाच्या निर्णयाचा उद्देश अशा करारांसाठी स्पष्टता आणणे आणि मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वे स्थापित करणे, पारदर्शकता सुनिश्चित करणे आणि कायदेशीर प्रक्रियांचे पालन करणे हे होते.

4. India has voiced reservations about the global mandates for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with a 2050 target, stating that it is “too early” for implementation.
भारताने 2050 च्या उद्दिष्टासह शाश्वत विमान इंधन (SAF) साठी जागतिक आदेशांबद्दल आरक्षण व्यक्त केले आहे, ते असे सांगून की अंमलबजावणीसाठी “खूप लवकर” आहे.

5. Ashwani Kumar has been appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of UCO Bank, following the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). He has replaced Soma Sankara Prasad, who retired on May 31, 2023.

6. Ajay Yadav, a 2005 batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as the Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
बिहार केडरचे 2005 बॅचचे IAS अधिकारी अजय यादव यांची सोलर एनर्जी कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया लिमिटेड (SECI) चे व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक म्हणून नियुक्ती करण्यात आली आहे.

7. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has launched the Electronics Repair Services Outsourcing (ERSO) Pilot initiative. This program aims to promote the repair and refurbishment of electronic devices in India and boost the country’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स आणि माहिती तंत्रज्ञान मंत्रालयाने (Meity) इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स रिपेअर सर्व्हिसेस आउटसोर्सिंग (ERSO) पायलट उपक्रम सुरू केला आहे. या कार्यक्रमाचा उद्देश भारतातील इलेक्ट्रॉनिक उपकरणांच्या दुरुस्ती आणि नूतनीकरणाला प्रोत्साहन देणे आणि देशाच्या इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स उत्पादन परिसंस्थेला चालना देणे हे आहे.

8. The Cabinet has approved the formation of an Inter-Ministerial Committee to oversee the implementation of the “World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan in Cooperative Sector.” This committee will coordinate the efforts of different ministries and ensure the successful execution of the plan. The initiative aims to construct large-scale grain storage facilities in the cooperative sector, improving the management and preservation of agricultural produce. This action is expected to enhance food security and bring benefits to farmers and consumers nationwide.
मंत्रिमंडळाने “सहकारी क्षेत्रातील जगातील सर्वात मोठी धान्य साठवणूक योजना” च्या अंमलबजावणीवर देखरेख ठेवण्यासाठी आंतर-मंत्रालयीन समिती स्थापन करण्यास मान्यता दिली आहे. ही समिती विविध मंत्रालयांच्या प्रयत्नांचे समन्वय साधेल आणि योजनेची यशस्वी अंमलबजावणी सुनिश्चित करेल. या उपक्रमाचा उद्देश सहकारी क्षेत्रात मोठ्या प्रमाणात धान्य साठवणूक सुविधा निर्माण करणे, व्यवस्थापन सुधारणे आणि कृषी उत्पादनांचे जतन करणे हा आहे. या कृतीमुळे अन्न सुरक्षा वाढेल आणि देशभरातील शेतकरी आणि ग्राहकांना फायदा होईल अशी अपेक्षा आहे.

9. The City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) program has been approved for a duration of four years, from 2023 to 2027.
सिटी इन्व्हेस्टमेंट टू इनोव्हेट, इंटिग्रेट आणि सस्टेन 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) कार्यक्रम 2023 ते 2027 या चार वर्षांच्या कालावधीसाठी मंजूर करण्यात आला आहे.

10. According to the provisional estimate from the Ministry of Statistics, India’s GDP is projected to grow at a rate of 7.2% during the fiscal year 2022-23.
