| 1. India and the United States are in the final lap of an interim trade pact under the first tranche of the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). Piyush Goyal, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, said on 1 June 2026 that 99% of the talks for the first phase were complete. Advertisement
भारत आणि अमेरिका हे प्रस्तावित द्विपक्षीय व्यापार कराराच्या (BTA) पहिल्या टप्प्यांतर्गत एका अंतरिम व्यापार कराराच्या अंतिम टप्प्यात आहेत. भारताचे वाणिज्य आणि उद्योग मंत्री पीयूष गोयल यांनी 1 जून 2026 रोजी सांगितले की, पहिल्या टप्प्यासाठीच्या 99 टक्के चर्चा पूर्ण झाल्या आहेत. |
| 2. The Union Cabinet approved the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 on 5 May 2026. The scheme is a government credit guarantee scheme for industries affected by the West Asia crisis, including Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and airlines. As of 29 May 2026, banks had sanctioned loans worth ₹35,194 crore under the scheme. केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने 5 मे 2026 रोजी ‘आपत्कालीन पतरेषा हमी योजने’च्या (ECLGS) 5.0 आवृत्तीला मंजुरी दिली. ही योजना पश्चिम आशियातील संकटामुळे प्रभावित झालेल्या उद्योगांसाठी-ज्यामध्ये सूक्ष्म, लघु आणि मध्यम उद्योग (MSMEs) तसेच विमान कंपन्यांचा समावेश आहे-एक सरकारी पतहमी योजना आहे. 29 मे 2026 पर्यंत, या योजनेअंतर्गत बँकांनी ₹35,194 कोटींच्या कर्जांना मंजुरी दिली होती. |
| 3. Effective immediately as of 1 June 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended membership of Cricket Canada. The ICC Board took the decision after meetings in Ahmedabad, India and cited serious breaches of membership obligations over governance concerns. 1 जून 2026 पासून तात्काळ प्रभावाने, आंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट परिषदेने (ICC) ‘क्रिकेट कॅनडा’चे सदस्यत्व निलंबित केले आहे. अहमदाबाद (भारत) येथे झालेल्या बैठकांनंतर ICC मंडळाने हा निर्णय घेतला असून, प्रशासकीय बाबींशी संबंधित सदस्यत्वाच्या दायित्वांचे गंभीर उल्लंघन झाल्याचे कारण यासाठी नमूद केले आहे. |

The Union Home Ministry had notified amendments to the Immigration and Foreigners Rules, 2025, on 1 June 2026. “The amended provisions adjust the registration time limits of some foreign visa holders, reporting obligations of children born to foreign parents, and information sharing obligations of medical institutions. केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालयाने 1 जून 2026 रोजी ‘इमिग्रेशन आणि परदेशी नागरिक नियम,2025’ मधील सुधारणा अधिसूचित केल्या होत्या. “या सुधारित तरतुदींद्वारे काही परदेशी व्हिसाधारकांच्या नोंदणीच्या कालमर्यादा, परदेशी पालकांच्या पोटी जन्मलेल्या मुलांच्या माहिती देण्यासंबंधीच्या जबाबदाऱ्या आणि वैद्यकीय संस्थांच्या माहिती सामायिक करण्यासंबंधीच्या जबाबदाऱ्यांमध्ये फेरबदल करण्यात आले आहेत.” |
| 5. The Delhi High Court gave its 144-page judgment on the enforcement of the right to be forgotten in digital records on May 29, 2026. Justice Sachin Datta acknowledged the right to be forgotten as an inherent part of the fundamental right to privacy under Article 21 of the Constitution. दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालयाने 29 मे 2026 रोजी डिजिटल नोंदींमधील ‘विसरले जाण्याच्या अधिकारा’च्या (Right to be Forgotten) अंमलबजावणीबाबत आपला 144 पानांचा निकाल दिला. न्यायमूर्ती सचिन दत्ता यांनी ‘विसरले जाण्याचा अधिकार’ हा संविधानाच्या अनुच्छेद 21 अंतर्गत येणाऱ्या गोपनीयतेच्या मूलभूत अधिकाराचा एक अविभाज्य भाग असल्याचे मान्य केले. |
| 6. Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhry assumed the role of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command of the Indian Air Force on 1 June 2026. He takes over from Air Marshal Balakrishnan Manikantan who superannuated on 31 May 2026 after serving four decades in the Indian Air Force. एअर मार्शल तरुण चौधरी यांनी 1 जून 2026 रोजी भारतीय हवाई दलाच्या ‘मध्य हवाई कमांड’चे (Central Air Command) ‘एअर ऑफिसर कमांडिंग-इन-चीफ’ म्हणून पदभार स्वीकारला. त्यांनी एअर मार्शल बालकृष्णन मणिकांतन यांच्याकडून हा पदभार स्वीकारला; एअर मार्शल मणिकांतन हे भारतीय हवाई दलात चार दशके सेवा बजावल्यानंतर 31 मे 2026 रोजी निवृत्त झाले होते. |
| 7. The Second BRICS Culture Working Group (CWG) Meeting will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from 4 to 5 June 2026. India is holding the BRICS Chairship for 2026 and is hosting the meeting under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. ब्रिक्स (BRICS) सांस्कृतिक कार्यगटाची (CWG) दुसरी बैठक 4 ते 5 जून २०२६ या कालावधीत उत्तर प्रदेशातील वाराणसी येथे आयोजित केली जाईल. 2026 सालासाठी भारताकडे ब्रिक्सचे अध्यक्षपद असून, “लवचिकता, नाविन्य, सहकार्य आणि शाश्वतता यांसाठी उभारणी” (Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability) या संकल्पनेखाली भारत या बैठकीचे यजमानपद भूषवत आहे. |
| 8. On 30 May 2026, the Supreme Court of India ordered the eviction of encroachers and the demolition of illegal structures in South India’s Agasthyamalai landscape. The order covers forest areas in the Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve that extends across parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. 30 मे 2026 रोजी, भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने दक्षिण भारतातील ‘अगस्त्यमलाई’ परिसरातून अतिक्रमणदारांना निष्कासित करण्याचे आणि अनधिकृत बांधकामे पाडून टाकण्याचे आदेश दिले. हा आदेश अगस्त्यमलाई जीवमंडल आरक्षणातील (Biosphere Reserve) वनक्षेत्रांना लागू होतो; हे क्षेत्र तामिळनाडू आणि केरळ या राज्यांच्या काही भागांमध्ये विस्तारलेले आहे. |
