1. August 7 is celebrated as National Handloom Day in India. This day is dedicated to honoring the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of handloom weavers across the country. It commemorates the Swadeshi Movement, which aimed to promote indigenous textiles and empower local artisans. National Handloom Day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of handloom weaving and support the livelihoods of countless weavers.

3. A collaborative effort between the public sector company Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) and the Russian company Metrowagonmash is progressing to produce and deliver approximately 120 Vande Bharat trains to the Indian Railways. Each train is estimated to cost ₹120 crore. RVNL aims for a larger share of 69% in this joint venture, while Metrowagonmash will hold 26%, and the remaining 5% is designated for the third partner, Locomotive Electronic Systems.

5. During the April-June quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24, the financial performance of State Bank of India (SBI) showed a substantial increase in quarterly profit, amounting to ₹16,884 crore. This monumental project, one of the largest rural telecom endeavors globally, is being implemented in phases to connect all 2.5 lakh gram panchayats in the nation, ensuring last-mile broadband connectivity.
