1. As part of the Mountain Cleaning Campaign 2024 in the Everest region, the Nepal Army will gather around 10 tonnes of waste and retrieve five deceased individuals from Mt. Everest. The cleaning programme seeks to mitigate anthropogenic pollution in the Himalayas and tackle issues pertaining to climate change.
एव्हरेस्ट प्रदेशात 2024 च्या पर्वत स्वच्छता मोहिमेचा एक भाग म्हणून, नेपाळ लष्कर सुमारे 10 टन कचरा गोळा करेल आणि माउंट एव्हरेस्टवरून मृत झालेल्या पाच व्यक्तींना पुनर्प्राप्त करेल. स्वच्छता कार्यक्रम हिमालयातील मानववंशीय प्रदूषण कमी करण्याचा आणि हवामान बदलाशी संबंधित समस्या हाताळण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो.

2. South Korea has safely sent into space its second military spy satellite that was made in the country. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket with the satellite on board was sent into space from an American space station. After the successful launch of South Korea’s first military spy satellite by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in December 2022, this is another big accomplishment.

3. NASA is preparing for the imminent total solar eclipse, during which the moon’s shadow will move across a large area of North America. In order to observe this uncommon celestial phenomenon, the space agency will utilise two of its specialised WB-57 jet planes, which are equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation. These planes will be used to monitor the eclipse and carry out scientific research on the Sun’s outer atmosphere, also referred to as the corona.

4. The Indian Government has recently unveiled a Rs. 496 crore initiative (till 2025-26) aimed at facilitating pilot projects that assess the feasibility of utilising green hydrogen as a fuel for automobiles and large vehicles. The programme, administered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), seeks to verify the technical feasibility, assess the economic sustainability, and showcase the safe functioning of cars fueled by hydrogen and the recharging facilities for such vehicles.

5. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently held a meeting and decided to hold the repo rate, which is the primary policy rate, at 6.5 per cent. They also agreed to continue with the policy stance of ‘removal of accommodation’. Both decisions were made through a voting process in which five out of the six members of the MPC, led by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, voted in favour.
रिझर्व्ह बँक ऑफ इंडिया (RBI) च्या चलनविषयक धोरण समितीने (MPC) नुकतीच एक बैठक घेतली आणि रेपो दर, जो प्राथमिक धोरण दर आहे, 6.5 टक्के ठेवण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. ‘निवासाची जागा काढून टाका’ ही धोरणात्मक भूमिका पुढे चालू ठेवण्याचेही त्यांनी मान्य केले. दोन्ही निर्णय मतदान प्रक्रियेद्वारे घेण्यात आले ज्यामध्ये RBI गव्हर्नर शक्तीकांत दास यांच्या नेतृत्वाखालील MPC च्या सहा सदस्यांपैकी पाच सदस्यांनी बाजूने मतदान केले.
