| 1. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on 7 May 2026 relaxed the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the 2026 Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry. The MCC was also withdrawn after declaration of results for bye-elections to Assembly constituencies in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura. Advertisement
भारतीय निवडणूक आयोगाने (ECI) ७ मे २०२६ रोजी आसाम, केरळ, तामिळनाडू, पश्चिम बंगाल आणि केंद्रशासित प्रदेश पुदुच्चेरी येथील २०२६ च्या विधानसभा निवडणुकांसाठी लागू असलेली ‘आचारसंहिता’ (MCC) शिथिल केली. तसेच, गुजरात, कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र, नागालँड आणि त्रिपुरा येथील विधानसभा मतदारसंघांमधील पोटनिवडणुकांचे निकाल जाहीर झाल्यानंतर तेथील आचारसंहिताही मागे घेण्यात आली. |

Vikram Doraiswami, India’s new Ambassador to China, presented his credentials to Hong Lei, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, on 7 May 2026 in Beijing. | 3. Eicher Motors owned two wheeler maker Royal Enfield will invest ₹2,200 crore on a new manufacturing facility and vendor park in Andhra Pradesh. | 5. Union Labour Ministry launched free annual health check-up scheme for workers above 40 years of age across the country on May 7, 2026. The scheme is implemented through Employees’ State Insurance Corporation hospitals and associated institutions under the Code on Social Security, 2020. केंद्रीय कामगार मंत्रालयाने 7 मे 2026 रोजी देशभरातील ४० वर्षांहून अधिक वय असलेल्या कामगारांसाठी मोफत वार्षिक आरोग्य तपासणी योजना सुरू केली. ही योजना ‘सामाजिक सुरक्षा संहिता, 2020’ (Code on Social Security, 2020) अंतर्गत, कर्मचारी राज्य विमा महामंडळाची रुग्णालये आणि संलग्न संस्थांमार्फत राबविली जात आहे. |

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted the maiden flight trial of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) weapon system off the coast of Odisha on May 7, 2026. The system was released from a Jaguar aircraft TARA is India’s first indigenously developed glide weapon system. संरक्षण संशोधन आणि विकास संस्था (DRDO) आणि भारतीय हवाई दलाने (IAF) ७ मे २०२६ रोजी ओडिशाच्या किनारपट्टीजवळ ‘टॅक्टिकल ॲडव्हान्स्ड रेंज ऑगमेंटेशन’ (TARA) या शस्त्रास्त्र प्रणालीची पहिली उड्डाण चाचणी घेतली. ही प्रणाली ‘जॅग्वार’ (Jaguar) विमानावरून प्रक्षेपित करण्यात आली. | 7. The India-European Union Free Trade Agreement was politically concluded on 27 January 2026 after nearly two decades of negotiations. | 8. On February 24, 2026, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California tested a lithium-fueled magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) thruster. The prototype produced 120-kilowatts of power – the most powerful electric propulsion system ever tested in the U.S. 24 फेब्रुवारी 2026 रोजी, दक्षिण कॅलिफोर्निया येथील नासाच्या ‘जेट प्रोपल्शन लॅबोरेटरी’ने लिथियमवर चालणाऱ्या ‘मॅग्नेटोप्लाझ्माडायनॅमिक’ (MPD) थ्रस्टरची चाचणी केली. या नमुन्याने 120 किलोवॅट ऊर्जा निर्माण केली – जी अमेरिकेत आजवर चाचणी करण्यात आलेली सर्वात शक्तिशाली विद्युत प्रणोदन प्रणाली (electric propulsion system) ठरली आहे. |
