1. Veteran actor Nana Patekar died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, aged 75, on 8 October 2026. He was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula in Goa and rushed to the Manipal Hospital where doctors tried to revive him through cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for 45 minutes. He was pronounced dead at 5:20 am at the hospital.

ज्येष्ठ अभिनेते नाना पाटेकर यांचे 8 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी वयाच्या 75 व्या वर्षी तीव्र हृदयविकाराच्या झटक्याने निधन झाले. गोव्यातील डोना पॉला येथील त्यांच्या निवासस्थानी ते बेशुद्ध अवस्थेत आढळले; त्यानंतर त्यांना तातडीने मणिपाल रुग्णालयात नेण्यात आले, जिथे डॉक्टरांनी 45 मिनिटांपर्यंत ‘कार्डिओ-पल्मोनरी रिससिटेशन’ (CPR) द्वारे त्यांना वाचवण्याचे प्रयत्न केले. रुग्णालयात पहाटे 5:20 वाजता त्यांना मृत घोषित करण्यात आले.

2. Starlink’s ground infrastructure for satellite communications in India is built on 20 gateway sites, each with hundreds of antennas. SpaceX Vise President of Starlink Business Operations Lauren Dreyer said at the India Mobile Congress 2026 the company built India-specific security controls to keep Indian user data inside the country. Starlink is awaiting final regulatory approvals to launch commercial services.

भारतातील उपग्रह-आधारित दळणवळणासाठी स्टारलिंकची जमिनीवरील पायाभूत सुविधा 20 ‘गेटवे’ केंद्रांवर उभारण्यात आली असून, प्रत्येक केंद्रावर शेकडो अँटेना बसवण्यात आले आहेत. ‘इंडिया मोबाइल काँग्रेस 2026’ मध्ये बोलताना स्टारलिंकच्या ‘बिझनेस ऑपरेशन्स’ विभागाच्या उपाध्यक्ष लॉरेन ड्रायर यांनी सांगितले की, भारतीय वापरकर्त्यांचा डेटा देशांतर्गतच सुरक्षित ठेवण्यासाठी कंपनीने भारतासाठी विशेष सुरक्षा उपाययोजना विकसित केल्या आहेत. व्यावसायिक सेवा सुरू करण्यासाठी स्टारलिंक आता अंतिम नियामक मंजुरीच्या प्रतीक्षेत आहे.

3. China has refused the European Commission’s call for voluntary limits on hybrid-car exports to the European Union during trade talks that started in Beijing on 8 October 2026. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic and China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao were scheduled to hold two days of talks on Oct. 8-9, including discussions on the EU’s trade deficit with China.

8 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी बीजिंगमध्ये सुरू झालेल्या व्यापारविषयक वाटाघाटींदरम्यान, युरोपियन युनियनला केल्या जाणाऱ्या हायब्रिड कारच्या निर्यातीवर स्वेच्छेने मर्यादा घालण्याच्या युरोपियन कमिशनच्या आवाहनाला चीनने नकार दिला आहे. युरोपियन युनियनचे व्यापार आयुक्त मारोस सेफकोविच आणि चीनचे वाणिज्य मंत्री वांग वेंटाओ यांच्यात 8 आणि 9 ऑक्टोबर रोजी दोन दिवसांची चर्चा होणार होती; यामध्ये चीनसोबतच्या व्यापार तुटीबाबतच्या चर्चेचाही समावेश होता.

4. The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) has got a Letter of Intent (LoI) from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for setting up a degree-granting campus in Hyderabad. The announcement was made on October 6th-7th 2026. The proposed campus will be the first campus of a foreign university in Telangana and the first to be set up by a public American university in India.

युनिव्हर्सिटी ऑफ कोलोरॅडो डेन्व्हरला (CU Denver) हैदराबादमध्ये पदवी प्रदान करणारे कॅम्पस सुरू करण्यासाठी युनिव्हर्सिटी ग्रँट्स कमिशनकडून (UGC) ‘लेटर ऑफ इंटेंट’ (LoI) प्राप्त झाले आहे. याची घोषणा 6-7 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी करण्यात आली. हे प्रस्तावित कॅम्पस तेलंगणामधील एखाद्या परदेशी विद्यापीठाचे पहिलेच कॅम्पस असेल आणि भारतातील एखाद्या सार्वजनिक अमेरिकन विद्यापीठाद्वारे उभारले जाणारे हे पहिलेच कॅम्पस ठरेल.

5. On 7 October 2026, GE Aerospace announced that it had delivered four F404-IN20 engines to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A program. The engines were shipped in September 2026 and total supplied to HAL was 14 including 10 supplied earlier.

7 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी, जीई एरोस्पेसने (GE Aerospace) ‘लाइट कॉम्बॅट एअरक्राफ्ट’ (LCA) Mk-1A कार्यक्रमासाठी हिंदुस्तान एरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेडला (HAL) चार F404-IN20 इंजिने सुपूर्द केल्याची घोषणा केली. ही इंजिने सप्टेंबर 2026 मध्ये पाठवण्यात आली होती; यापूर्वी पुरवलेल्या 10 इंजिनांसह, HAL ला पुरवण्यात आलेल्या इंजिनांची एकूण संख्या 14 झाली आहे.

6. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) carried out the first live jump of its Advanced High-Altitude Parachute (AHAP) on 6 October 2026. The jump was performed from 16,000 feet above mean sea level (AMSL) at Mudh Drop Zone near Nyoma in Ladakh.

7. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has confirmed India as one of seven countries in the running to host the 2036 Summer Olympics. The other countries in the process are Qatar, South Africa, South Korea, Germany, Hungary and Turkey.

आंतरराष्ट्रीय ऑलिम्पिक समितीने (IOC) 2026 च्या उन्हाळी ऑलिम्पिकचे यजमानपद भूषवण्यासाठी शर्यतीत असलेल्या सात देशांपैकी एक म्हणून भारताच्या नावाची पुष्टी केली आहे. या प्रक्रियेतील इतर देशांमध्ये कतार, दक्षिण आफ्रिका, दक्षिण कोरिया, जर्मनी, हंगेरी आणि तुर्की यांचा समावेश आहे.

8. The 12th National Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX-2026) is planned to be inaugurated with a Search and Rescue (SAR) demonstration off Paradip coast, Odisha.
