1. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of a severe train crash that occurred in Odisha’s Balasore district. 2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced four measures to strengthen 1,514 urban co-operative banks. These measures include granting a two-year extension to meet priority sector lending targets. 3. IIT Kanpur has recently developed India’s first 100% Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuelled tractor/vehicle for both on- and off-road applications. The DME-powered engine showcased improved thermal efficiency and lower emissions compared to traditional diesel engines, making it an environmentally friendly alternative.

4. In June 2023, the Union government released the 3rd Installment of Tax Devolution to state governments, totaling Rs 1,18,280 crore. This amount is significantly higher than the usual monthly devolution of Rs 59,140 crore, aiming to provide additional financial support to the states.

7. The central government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed a loan agreement worth $130 million to support the growth of agricultural productivity and horticulture agribusinesses. The funds will be utilized to implement various initiatives and projects that will benefit the agricultural sector and contribute to the overall development of the region.
