1. Manohar Lal Khattar unexpectedly stepped down from his position as the Chief Minister of Haryana on March 13, 2024, in response to a new political crisis in the state. Nayab Saini was promptly chosen as the new Chief Minister by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party and took the oath of office on the same day. Saini, a prominent figure in the state, has had a lengthy and dedicated tenure in the BJP, occupying several important roles over the past thirty years.

2. The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has successfully obtained clearance from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) for its first anchoring project, the Avaana Sustainability Fund (ASF), with a value of USD 120 million. The closure was declared during the 38th board meeting of the GCF in Kigali, Rwanda, on March 5, 2024, when the GCF pledged to put USD 24.5 million in the fund.

3. China’s parliament made a significant change on March 13, 2023, by revising the State Council Organic Law. This change essentially gives the Communist Party more executive authority over China’s cabinet, known as the State Council. The modification, which was approved by a large majority on the final day of the National People’s Congress in Beijing, is the first alteration of the law since 1982.
चीनच्या संसदेने 13 मार्च 2023 रोजी स्टेट कौन्सिल ऑर्गेनिक कायद्यात सुधारणा करून महत्त्वपूर्ण बदल केला. हा बदल मूलत: कम्युनिस्ट पक्षाला चीनच्या मंत्रिमंडळावर अधिक कार्यकारी अधिकार देतो, ज्याला स्टेट कौन्सिल म्हणून ओळखले जाते. बीजिंगमधील नॅशनल पीपल्स काँग्रेसच्या अंतिम दिवशी मोठ्या बहुमताने मंजूर करण्यात आलेला हा फेरबदल हा 1982 नंतरचा कायद्यातील पहिला बदल आहे.

4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Namo Drone Didi project on March 11, 2024, as part of the Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat plan. The ceremony took place at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi. The project seeks to enhance the agency of women in rural areas by equipping them with agricultural drones and imparting them with the necessary skills to operate as drone pilots for agricultural applications.

5. The Sahitya Akademi’s Executive Board, led by President Sri Madhav Kaushik, met at Rabindra Bhavan in New Delhi and officially endorsed the choice of 24 novels for the Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize 2023. The books were selected based on suggestions provided by three-member Selection Committees in each language, in accordance with the established norms and procedures. The award acknowledges translations that were initially published from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2021.
