| 2. Sonali Ghosh, the director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, was the first Indian to win the Kenton R. Miller Award. The award celebrates new ideas that help national parks and protected areas stay open. The World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) gave it out at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi in October 2025. The IUCN is the group that oversees it. | 3. The Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology (TNSDA) recently dug up an Iron Age burial site near the Western Ghats in Thirumalapuram, Tenkasi district. Preliminary studies imply that the site may date back to the early to mid-third millennium BCE. | 4. The India-UK Connectivity and Innovation Centre was set up not long ago to help the two countries work together more on digital technologies and telecoms. The goal of this project is to provide secure communications and digital access between the two countries. The Hamas–Doghmush conflict 2025 is a deadly military battle that started in October 2025 between the Doghmush clan, one of Gaza’s most prominent and influential families, and the Hamas movement, which controls the Gaza Strip. The fight happened just after a truce that briefly stopped the Gaza war. It was one of the worst internal Palestinian armed clashes in recent years. Most of the fighting took place in the Tel al-Hawa and Sabra neighbourhoods of Gaza City. | 6. A big construction milestone has been attained for the Kiru hydroelectric project on the Chenab River in Jammu & Kashmir. By the middle of 2025, 10 lakh cubic meters of dam concrete work would have been done, out of a goal of 12 lakh. This progress is a big step toward finishing the dam. At the same time, work on the stator assembly of Unit-1 has started in the power house, speeding up the project’s schedule. Tensions between the Philippines and China grew stronger after a Chinese ship attacked a Philippine government ship on purpose near Thitu Island in the South China Sea, which both countries claim as their own. The Philippines called the incident a “clear threat” from Beijing because it utilized water cannons and ramming. This fight is part of a series of growing maritime disputes in the area.
