| 1. Every year on January 15, India celebrates Army Day to remember the appointment of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. People are paying more attention to India’s missile systems, which are the backbone of the country’s military deterrence, as the event approaches. | 2. The National Campaign on Entrepreneurship is a big step toward changing rural incomes. It is part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana–National Rural Livelihoods Mission. | 3. In everyday language, “cold” means winter air or rooms that are too cold. In physics, though, “cold” has a very specific and extreme meaning. The lowest temperature is −273.15°C, which is absolute zero. At this point, atomic motion stops completely. Modern physics has figured out how to cool atoms to just a billionth of a degree above this point. | 4. Tripura Gramin Bank is the first Gramin Bank in India to have a solar-powered ATM van, which sets a national standard for rural banking. | 6. Astronomers have observed a rare and puzzling phenomenon involving a highly magnetised white dwarf that is generating a vivid, multicoloured shockwave as it travels through space. | 7. The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved Zycubo (copper histidinate) to treat children with Menkes disease. This is a big step forward in the treatment of rare diseases. This is the first and only approved treatment for the condition in the United States. It gives new hope to children and their families who are affected. युनायटेड स्टेट्स फूड अँड ड्रग ॲडमिनिस्ट्रेशनने मेन्केस आजाराने ग्रस्त असलेल्या मुलांवर उपचार करण्यासाठी झायक्युबो (कॉपर हिस्टिडिनेट) या औषधाला मंजुरी दिली आहे. दुर्मिळ आजारांवरील उपचारांच्या दिशेने हे एक मोठे पाऊल आहे. अमेरिकेत या आजारावरील हा पहिला आणि एकमेव मंजूर उपचार आहे. यामुळे बाधित मुलांना आणि त्यांच्या कुटुंबांना नवी आशा मिळाली आहे. |
| 8. The World Bank has raised its prediction for India’s economic growth, saying that GDP will grow by 7.2% in the current fiscal year 2025–26. The new estimate takes into account strong domestic demand, tax reforms that help businesses, and strong export performance even though global trade is uncertain. The World Bank’s main global assessment report came out with the projection. जागतिक बँकेने भारताच्या आर्थिक वाढीचा अंदाज वाढवला असून, चालू आर्थिक वर्ष २०२५-२६ मध्ये सकल राष्ट्रीय उत्पादन (जीडीपी) ७.२% दराने वाढेल, असे म्हटले आहे. जागतिक व्यापारात अनिश्चितता असूनही, मजबूत देशांतर्गत मागणी, व्यवसायांना मदत करणारे कर सुधारणा आणि निर्यातीची दमदार कामगिरी या बाबींचा विचार करून हा नवीन अंदाज वर्तवण्यात आला आहे. जागतिक बँकेच्या प्रमुख जागतिक मूल्यांकन अहवालात हा अंदाज प्रसिद्ध करण्यात आला आहे. |
