1. Abdoulaye Diabate, an African scientist from Burkina Faso, has been awarded the 2023 Falling Walls Prize for Science and Innovation Management for his groundbreaking research on a gene drive technology aimed at eliminating malaria and its carriers, female Anopheles mosquitoes.
बुर्किना फासो येथील आफ्रिकन शास्त्रज्ञ अब्दुलाये डायबेट यांना मलेरिया आणि त्याचे वाहक, मादी ॲनोफिलीस डासांचे उच्चाटन करण्याच्या उद्देशाने जीन ड्राइव्ह तंत्रज्ञानावरील संशोधनासाठी विज्ञान आणि नवकल्पना व्यवस्थापनासाठी 2023 फॉलिंग वॉल्स पुरस्काराने सन्मानित करण्यात आले आहे.
2. In a tragic incident, three masons lost their lives while undertaking repairs on the ancient walls encircling the Old City of Kairouan in Tunisia—a UNESCO World Heritage site. The mishap occurred on December 16, as a 30-meter section of the wall, near the Gate of the Floggers, collapsed during the ongoing restoration work.

3. In a groundbreaking development, India has become the first country globally to showcase the capability of engaging four targets simultaneously with its indigenous Akash surface-to-air (SAM) weapon system.

However, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, commencing on February 24, 2022, jeopardizes these efforts. Ukraine hosts over 50 percent of free-living bison.

9. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), touted as the world’s largest office space in a single project, on Sunday (December 17). Located in Gujarat, the complex surpasses the US Pentagon in capacity, boasting 4,200 diamond trading offices. SDB aims to shift and expand the diamond trading business from Mumbai to Surat, known for diamond cutting and polishing. The bourse, built at DREAM (Diamond Research and Mercantile) city, covers an area of 66 lakh square feet, costing Rs 3,200 crore.
