| 1. July 18 is World Listening Day, a day observed each year. It was created in 2010 by the World Listening Project, a non-profit organization founded in 2008. 18 जुलै हा ‘जागतिक श्रवण दिन’ (World Listening Day) म्हणून दरवर्षी साजरा केला जातो. 2008 मध्ये स्थापन झालेल्या ‘वर्ल्ड लिसनिंग प्रोजेक्ट’ या ना-नफा तत्त्वावर चालणाऱ्या संस्थेने 2010 मध्ये या दिवसाची सुरुवात केली. हा दिवस कॅनेडियन संगीतकार, लेखक आणि ‘अकौस्टिक इकोलॉजी’शी (ध्वनी-पर्यावरणशास्त्र) संबंधित असलेले पर्यावरणवादी रेमंड मरे शेफर यांच्या जयंतीनिमित्त साजरा केला जातो. |
| 2. On 16 July 2026 the UK government nationalised British Steel, taking full control of the company from the Jingye Group. The move followed the Steel Industry (Nationalisation) Act, which received Royal Assent on 15 July 2026 and would enable public ownership of steel companies in the public interest.

| 3. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has sent four Rafale fighter jets, two C-17 transport aircraft and over 120 air warriors to Darwin, Australia for Exercise Pitch Black 2026. It is a multinational air combat exercise planned to be held from 20 July to 7 August 2026. The exercise is hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
भारतीय हवाई दलाने (IAF) ‘एक्सरसाइज पिच ब्लॅक 2026’ (Exercise Pitch Black 2026) साठी चार राफेल लढाऊ विमाने, दोन सी-17 (C-17) मालवाहू विमाने आणि 120 हून अधिक हवाई योद्ध्यांना ऑस्ट्रेलियातील डार्विन येथे पाठवले आहे. हा एक बहुराष्ट्रीय हवाई युद्ध सराव असून, तो 20 जुलै ते 7 ऑगस्ट 2026 या कालावधीत आयोजित केला जाणार आहे. या सरावाचे यजमानपद रॉयल ऑस्ट्रेलियन एअर फोर्स (RAAF) भूषवत आहे. |
| 4. NITI Aayog released the Investment Friendliness Index 2026 on 17 July 2026 to rank the Indian States and Union Territories on investment related parameters. The index was based on 8 pillars – infrastructure, business climate, resources, government policy, ease of doing business, institutional environment, financial health and environmental resilience. It covered 28 States and 8 Union Territories.
गुंतवणुकीशी संबंधित निकषांच्या आधारे भारतीय राज्ये आणि केंद्रशासित प्रदेशांची क्रमवारी लावण्यासाठी नीती आयोगाने 17 जुलै 2026 रोजी ‘गुंतवणूक अनुकूलता निर्देशांक 2026’ (Investment Friendliness Index 2026) जाहीर केला. हा निर्देशांक पायाभूत सुविधा, व्यावसायिक वातावरण, संसाधने, सरकारी धोरण, व्यवसाय सुलभता (ease of doing business), संस्थात्मक वातावरण, आर्थिक स्थिती आणि पर्यावरणीय लवचिकता या 8 स्तंभांवर आधारित होता. यात 28 राज्ये आणि 8 केंद्रशासित प्रदेशांचा समावेश करण्यात आला होता. |
| 5. The International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) has amended the credit rating framework for the International Financial Services Centre in GIFT City, Gujarat through Circular No. IFSCA-CMIR/1/2026-CMIR July 16, 2026. The circular, which is effective immediately, modifies the Master Circular for Credit Rating Agencies in the IFSC dated August 5, 2023.
इंटरनॅशनल फायनान्शियल सर्व्हिसेस सेंटर्स ऑथॉरिटीने (IFSCA) 16 जुलै 2026 रोजीच्या परिपत्रक क्रमांक IFSCA-CMIR/1/2026-CMIR द्वारे, गुजरातच्या गिफ्ट (GIFT) सिटीमधील ‘इंटरनॅशनल फायनान्शियल सर्व्हिसेस सेंटर’साठीच्या क्रेडिट रेटिंग आराखड्यात सुधारणा केली आहे. हे परिपत्रक त्वरित लागू झाले असून, त्याद्वारे IFSC मधील क्रेडिट रेटिंग एजन्सींसाठी 5 ऑगस्ट 2023 रोजी जारी करण्यात आलेल्या ‘मास्टर परिपत्रका’त (Master Circular) बदल करण्यात आले आहेत. |
| 6. The Union Cabinet on 15 July 2026 approved the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) with a budgetary outlay of ₹62,500 crore. It will be implemented for five years from FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31 and will subsume the existing Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing which ends on 31 March 2026.
केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने 15 जुलै 2026 रोजी 62,500 कोटी रुपयांच्या अर्थसंकल्पीय तरतुदीसह ‘मोबाईल फोन उत्पादन योजना’ (MPMS) मंजूर केली. ही योजना 2026-27 ते 2030-31 या पाच वर्षांच्या कालावधीसाठी राबवली जाईल आणि ती ‘मोठ्या प्रमाणावरील इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स उत्पादनासाठीची विद्यमान उत्पादन-आधारित प्रोत्साहन योजना’ (PLI Scheme) – जी 31 मार्च 2026 रोजी संपत आहे – तिची जागा घेईल. |
| 7. The Reserve Bank of India has made amendments to the Resolution of Stressed Assets Directions, 2025, to put in place a prudential framework for Specified Non-Financial Assets (SNFAs). The framework is applicable to the Regional Rural Banks, All India Financial Institutions, commercial banks, small finance banks and non-banking financial companies. The framework will come into force from 1 October 2026.
भारतीय रिझर्व्ह बँकेने ‘विशिष्ट बिगर-आर्थिक मालमत्तां’साठी (SNFAs) एक विवेकी (prudential) आराखडा लागू करण्याच्या उद्देशाने ‘ताणग्रस्त मालमत्तांच्या निवारणाबाबतच्या निर्देश, 2025’ मध्ये सुधारणा केल्या आहेत. हा आराखडा प्रादेशिक ग्रामीण बँका, अखिल भारतीय वित्तीय संस्था, व्यापारी बँका, लघु वित्त बँका आणि बिगर-बँकिंग वित्तीय कंपन्यांना लागू असेल. हा आराखडा 1 ऑक्टोबर 2026 पासून अंमलात येईल. |
| 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 July 2026 inaugurated several development projects in Chandigarh in the fields of healthcare, education and road infrastructure. It also comprises hospital facilities at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) and highway works pertaining to the Tricity Ring Road network.
