| 1. The UAE Cabinet approved on June 18, 2026, a resolution to set the minimum age at 15 years for creating, using or operating personal social media accounts. | 2. QS World University Rankings 2027 Released on 18 June 2026. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) claimed the top spot globally for the 15th consecutive year with a clean sweep of 100 points in the overall score. Imperial College London and Stanford University are joint second, while the University of Oxford is fourth and Harvard University is fifth.

India observed the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on 17 June 2026 in 813 project areas under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0 (WDC-PMKSY 2.0). The programme is implemented by the Watershed Management Division of the Department of Land Resources in the Ministry of Rural Development.

| 5. Archaeologists have announced the discovery of a princely grave near Bad Camberg in Hesse, Germany, during excavations connected with a solar park. The burial belongs to the early La Tène period, i.e. to the middle of the first millennium BCE, and the grave goods consist of gold jewellery, fragments of weapons and a bronze jug imported from Etruria.

| 6. On June 17, 2026, scientists from the western regional centre of the Zoological Survey of India in Pune announced a new forester moth species from Karnataka’s Kali Tiger Reserve. It is the first addition to the genus Mimeusemia in almost three decades and is named Mimeusemia kali Kalawate & László, 2026.
17 जून 2026 रोजी, पुण्यातील ‘झुलॉजिकल सर्व्हे ऑफ इंडिया’च्या (भारतीय प्राणी सर्वेक्षण) पश्चिम प्रादेशिक केंद्रातील शास्त्रज्ञांनी कर्नाटकातील ‘काली व्याघ्र प्रकल्पा’तून (Kali Tiger Reserve) ‘फॉरेस्टर मॉथ’च्या (forester moth) एका नवीन प्रजातीची घोषणा केली. ‘मिम्युसेमिया’ (Mimeusemia) या प्रजातीगटात (genus) गेल्या जवळपास तीन दशकांतील ही पहिलीच भर असून, या नवीन प्रजातीला ‘मिम्युसेमिया काली’ (Mimeusemia kali Kalawate & László, 2026) असे नाव देण्यात आले आहे. |
| 7. The High-Level Clearance Authority of Odisha approved 20 industrial projects on June 17, 2026. The proposals are for a total investment of ₹76,611.86 crore and envisage 50,517 jobs in nine districts.

| 8. The India-UK free trade agreement is set to come into force on 15 July 2026. The agreement was signed on 24 July 2025, following an agreement in principle reached by both sides on 6 May 2025.
