| 1. After the last armed Maoist, Suresh Koda, gave up in Munger district, Bihar was officially declared free of Naxal activities. The development is a big step forward in the State’s long fight against Left Wing Extremism. Authorities have confirmed that there are no armed Naxalite groups operating in any of the districts that were previously affected. Rakesh Kumar, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Munger range, said that all 23 districts that were once affected by Naxalism are now free of organized armed groups. Advertisement

The Kerala State Cabinet has approved the Kerala Nativity Card Bill, which gives the government the power to issue Nativity Cards as an official form of identification for accessing State services and meeting social needs. The card that is being proposed is based on the current Nativity Certificate, which proves that someone is from Kerala.The Chief Minister’s Office says that the card will be an official document for services provided by the State government. | 4. The successful qualification level load test of the drogue parachute for the Gaganyaan program gave India’s first human spaceflight mission a big boost. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) worked together to do the test at the Rail Track Rocket Sledge (RTRS) facility in Chandigarh. 5. India is set to strengthen its sea-based nuclear deterrent with the commissioning of INS Aridhaman, the third indigenous Arihant-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN). The submarine, designated S4, is expected to be inducted into the Indian Navy by April-May after completing final stages of sea trials. | 6. At the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics, athletes from Russia and Belarus will be able to compete under their national flags. This is a big change from the rules that were in place in 2022. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has confirmed that both countries will only get a small number of spots.
