| 1. India and Republic of Korea held the 12th round of negotiations for upgrading India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IK CEPA) in New Delhi during 25-27 May 2026. The talks followed a Joint Declaration signed on 20 April, 2026, during the state visit of the South Korean President to India. IK CEPA was introduced in 2010 and offers a legal basis for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. Advertisement

| 2. On May 28, 2026, Russia and Kazakhstan signed an agreement on the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant. The project is estimated at about $16.5 billion and Russia is expected to finance about 85 percent of it through an export loan. | 4. Two Indian peacekeepers, Lance Havildar Harbhajan Singh and Naib Subedar Sujit Kumar Pradhan, will be posthumously awarded the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal by United Nations. The ceremony will take place at United Nations Headquarters, New York on June 5, 2026. | 6. According to the Sample Registration System (SRS), India’s Total Fertility Rate (TFR) was 1.9 in 2024. The replacement fertility level is 2.1 children per woman . | 8. India and China held the 35th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) in Beijing on 27 May 2026.
