1. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) established the Energy, Food Security and Economic Resilience Facility on May 20, 2026. The facility will provide up to US$10 billion over two years to member countries and clients affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

एशियन इन्फ्रास्ट्रक्चर इन्व्हेस्टमेंट बँक (AIIB) ने 20 मे 2026 रोजी ‘ऊर्जा, अन्न सुरक्षा आणि आर्थिक लवचिकता सुविधा’ (Energy, Food Security and Economic Resilience Facility) स्थापन केली. ही सुविधा मध्य पूर्वेतील संघर्षामुळे प्रभावित झालेल्या सदस्य देशांना आणि ग्राहकांना, दोन वर्षांच्या कालावधीत 10 अब्ज अमेरिकन डॉलर्सपर्यंतचा निधी उपलब्ध करून देईल.

1. The West Bengal government on 21 May 2026 made it mandatory for all recognised madrasas in the state to sing Vande Mataram during morning assemblies before the start of classes. The directive applies to government model madrasas, government-aided madrasas and unaided madrasas under the Directorate of Madrasa.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकारने 21 मे 2026 रोजी राज्यातील सर्व मान्यताप्राप्त मदरशांमध्ये, वर्ग सुरू होण्यापूर्वीच्या सकाळच्या संमेलनादरम्यान ‘वंदे मातरम’ गाणे अनिवार्य केले. हा निर्देश सरकारी आदर्श मदरसे, सरकारी अनुदानित मदरसे आणि मदरसा संचालनालयाच्या अखत्यारीतील विनाअनुदानित मदरशांना लागू होतो.

2. RAINMUMBAI, India’s first SEBI approved exchange traded weather derivatives contract was announced by the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) on 20 May 2026. The contract is a rainfall-based cash-settled futures contract for Mumbai from June to September during the monsoon months.

भारताचा पहिला सेबी-मान्यताप्राप्त एक्सचेंज ट्रेडेड हवामान डेरिव्हेटिव्ह करार, ‘रेनमुंबई’, नॅशनल कमोडिटीज अँड डेरिव्हेटिव्हज एक्सचेंज (NCDEX) द्वारे 20 मे 2026 रोजी जाहीर करण्यात आला. हा करार पावसाळ्याच्या महिन्यांदरम्यान, जून ते सप्टेंबर या कालावधीसाठी मुंबईकरिता, पावसावर आधारित आणि रोख-पूर्तता होणारा वायदे करार आहे.

In May 2026, NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) performed biomedical experiments on cancer therapeutics, cartilage tissue growth, heart stem cells and DNA-inspired nanomaterials. This work was performed during Expedition 74 and utilized the Japanese Kibo laboratory module and its Life Science Glovebox for space life science research.

1. Scientists have discovered thriving colonies of microbes hundreds of metres beneath the surface of Antarctica’s Ross ice shelf. The findings were published in 2022 in Nature Communications, and a 2024 description of a functional microbial community in seawater under the ice shelf followed.
