| 1. Recent archaeological excavations at Raigad Fort have revealed an ancient astrolabe, known as ‘yantraraj’. This discovery was made by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in collaboration with the Raigad Development Authority. The excavations spanned several years and covered multiple sites within the fort, revealing structures dating back to the era of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Advertisement
रायगड किल्ल्यावर अलिकडच्या पुरातत्व उत्खननात ‘यंत्रराज’ म्हणून ओळखल्या जाणाऱ्या एका प्राचीन खगोलशास्त्राचा शोध लागला आहे. हा शोध भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (ASI) ने रायगड विकास प्राधिकरणाच्या सहकार्याने लावला आहे. उत्खनन अनेक वर्षे चालले आणि किल्ल्यातील अनेक ठिकाणी हे उत्खनन करण्यात आले, ज्यामुळे छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांच्या काळातील वास्तू उघड झाल्या. |
| 2. The Waqf UMEED site will formally open on June 6, 2025. The goal of this project is to make the registration of Waqf assets in India easier and more efficient by putting them online. The launch comes after the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was signed into law by the President on April 5. The portal’s goal is to make administering Waqf properties more open and efficient.
वक्फ उमीदची साइट औपचारिकपणे ६ जून २०२५ रोजी उघडेल. या प्रकल्पाचे उद्दिष्ट भारतातील वक्फ मालमत्तेची नोंदणी ऑनलाइन करून ती सुलभ आणि अधिक कार्यक्षम करणे आहे. ५ एप्रिल रोजी राष्ट्रपतींनी वक्फ (सुधारणा) विधेयक, २०२५ वर स्वाक्षरी केल्यानंतर हे लाँच करण्यात आले. वक्फ मालमत्तेचे व्यवस्थापन अधिक खुले आणि कार्यक्षम करणे हे या पोर्टलचे उद्दिष्ट आहे. |

| 4. India is dealing with a growing cancer pandemic, and air pollution is one of the causes. Recent studies reveal that the number of lung cancer cases is rising quickly, even among those who don’t smoke. The Indian Council of Medical Research says that the number of cancer cases would go up from 1.46 million in 2022 to 1.57 million in 2025. This tendency makes many worry about how bad air quality is for people’s health in the country.

| 5. The governments of Assam and Meghalaya have just declared that they would work together to build a 55-megawatt hydropower and irrigation project. This is part of a bigger plan to fix the flooding problems in Guwahati and settle a long-running border issue between the two states. The declaration was made during a meeting between the Chief Ministers of Assam and Meghalaya, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Conrad K. Sangma.

The Indian government-owned company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) has inked an MoU with Norway’s Kongsberg business to build India’s first Polar Research Vessel (PRV) in India. A PRV is a ship that helps with research in the polar regions (around the North and South Poles) and the ocean, and it is made to meet the demands of the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research.
