1. February 6 marks the observance of International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation. The purpose of this day is to bring attention to the need to eradicate female genital mutilation (FGM).
6 फेब्रुवारी हा महिला जननेंद्रियाच्या विच्छेदनासाठी शून्य सहिष्णुतेचा आंतरराष्ट्रीय दिवस साजरा केला जातो. महिला जननेंद्रियाच्या विच्छेदन (FGM) निर्मूलनाच्या गरजेकडे लक्ष वेधणे हा या दिवसाचा उद्देश आहे.

2. In order to prohibit the utilisation of unfair methods in public examinations, the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024 has been introduced by the central government. Dr. Jitendra Singh, a minister of the union, introduced the bill, which seeks to prohibit paper leaks and academic dishonesty in entrance and recruitment exams.
सार्वजनिक परीक्षांमध्ये अयोग्य पद्धतींचा वापर प्रतिबंधित करण्यासाठी, केंद्र सरकारने सार्वजनिक परीक्षा (अयोग्य पद्धतींचा प्रतिबंध) विधेयक, 2024 सादर केले आहे. केंद्रीय मंत्री डॉ. जितेंद्र सिंह यांनी हे विधेयक सादर केले, ज्यात प्रवेश आणि भरती परीक्षांमध्ये पेपर फुटणे आणि शैक्षणिक अप्रामाणिकता रोखण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे.

3. The government of Uttarakhand has enacted legislation in preparation for the state’s Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implementation. Following Goa, where a UCC has been in effect since Portuguese rule, Uttarakhand would become the second Indian state to adopt one if the proposal were to be implemented. The primary objective of the proposed legislation is to establish regulations and oversight for legislation pertaining to matrimony, divorce, successions, and cohabitation. The legislation expressly forbids bigamy and polygamy, which are defined as practices that entail the union of multiple spouses concurrently or while legally wedded to another individual. Five specific conditions for the solemnization of marriages in the state are also delineated in the UCC Bill.

4. A novel bill, recently introduced in the Lok Sabha by the Union government, seeks to establish reservation provisions for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in Jammu and Kashmir local bodies. The legislative proposal aims to revise current statutes in order to ensure their conformity with constitutional stipulations. The commission tasked with determining the number of seats to be reserved for OBCs will be established subsequent to the passage of the legislation.
केंद्र सरकारने नुकतेच लोकसभेत सादर केलेले एक नवीन विधेयक जम्मू आणि काश्मीर स्थानिक स्वराज्य संस्थांमध्ये इतर मागासवर्गीयांसाठी (ओबीसी) आरक्षणाच्या तरतुदी स्थापित करण्याचा प्रयत्न करते.घटनात्मक अटींशी सुसंगतता सुनिश्चित करण्यासाठी सध्याच्या कायद्यांमध्ये सुधारणा करणे हे विधान प्रस्तावाचे उद्दिष्ट आहे. 5. Comparable to the proposed central legislation, the Assam Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Bill, 2024 was recently introduced by the Assam government. The aforementioned legislation serves as a subsequent measure to the Ordinance on Assam Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Recruitment Methods) that was promulgated by the Assam Cabinet in October 2023. The purpose of the proposed legislation is to deter exam fraud and cheating in the state by imposing severe penalties.

6. The Interim Budget for fiscal year 2024-25, which was recently declared, delineates the development assistance strategies of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). These strategies primarily target neighbouring countries and strategic partners.

7. A Working Group, which was recently established by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), has put forth a set of recommendations aimed at resolving concerns pertaining to State government guarantees. The Working Group was established in July 2022 during the 32nd Conference of State Finance Secretaries.

8. In the Interim Budget 2024-25, the Finance Minister recently declared the broadening of the fertilizer’s application to include Nano DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate) on a variety of crops across all agroclimatic zones. Nanofertilizers are exceptionally effective varieties of fertilisers that supply crops with nutrients such as nitrogen in the form of minuscule granules.
