1. The Supreme Court (SC) of India recently issued notice to the Centre and 11 states on a public interest litigation (PIL) that alleged caste-based discrimination and segregation of prisoners in jails and sought a direction to repeal provisions that mandate such practices under the state prison manuals.
भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने (एससी) अलीकडेच एका जनहित याचिकेवर (पीआयएल) केंद्र आणि 11 राज्यांना नोटीस बजावली आहे ज्यात कारागृहात जातीय भेदभाव आणि कैद्यांना वेगळे केले जाते आणि या अंतर्गत अशा प्रथा अनिवार्य करणाऱ्या तरतुदी रद्द करण्याचे निर्देश मागितले आहेत.

6. Reverse flipping has become a trend among Indian startups, especially in the fintech sector, as they plan for Initial Public Offers (IPOs) or seek long-term benefits in the home market. Reverse flipping is the process of shifting the domicile of an Indian company back to India after it had moved its headquarters overseas, usually for tax or regulatory reasons. It is also known as ‘re-domiciling’.

7. NASA has announced 13 winning ideas in Phase 1 of its NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. The NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program funds early-stage studies to encourage pioneering space technology ideas that could transform future NASA missions.

8. India’s premier road construction agency, Border Roads Organization (BRO) has utilized an indigenous road construction technology called “REJUPAVE” developed by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI), part of the Ministry of Science and Technology. REJUPAVE allows the construction of high altitude bituminous roads under low and sub-zero temperatures.
भारतातील प्रमुख रस्ते बांधकाम एजन्सी, बॉर्डर रोड्स ऑर्गनायझेशन (BRO) ने विज्ञान आणि तंत्रज्ञान मंत्रालयाचा भाग असलेल्या CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) द्वारे विकसित “REJUPAVE” नावाचे स्वदेशी रस्ते बांधकाम तंत्रज्ञान वापरले आहे. REJUPAVE कमी आणि कमी-शून्य तापमानात उच्च उंचीचे बिटुमिनस रस्ते बांधण्यास परवानगी देते.

9. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will be visiting Uganda from January 15-20, 2024, to attend the 19th edition of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit. Strengthening ties with African countries and other nations of the Global South will be a key focus during the visit.

10. On January 5th 2024, the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued new guidelines making it mandatory for registered unrecognized political parties (RUPPs) to provide additional financial documents and election expenditure statements for getting a common election symbol. The move aims to improve transparency in the allotment process ahead of the 2024 general election.
