1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed India’s biggest state-owned refiners to urge Persian Gulf oil suppliers to accept at least 10% of their payments in rupees in the 2018 fiscal year. This strategy is intended to promote the Indian rupee in international commerce while minimising the country’s reliance on the US dollar.
रिझर्व्ह बँक ऑफ इंडिया (RBI) ने भारतातील सर्वात मोठ्या सरकारी मालकीच्या रिफायनर्सना 2018 आर्थिक वर्षात पर्शियन गल्फ तेल पुरवठादारांना त्यांच्या देयकांपैकी किमान 10% रक्कम रुपयांमध्ये स्वीकारण्याचे आवाहन करण्याचे निर्देश दिले आहेत. ही रणनीती आंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यापारात भारतीय रुपयाला चालना देण्याच्या उद्देशाने आहे आणि देशाचा अमेरिकन डॉलरवरील अवलंबित्व कमी करणे.

2. In a key step to encourage international investment in the Indian space sector, the government has issued modified international Direct Investment (FDI) rules. The amended standards allow for 100% offshore investment in satellite component manufacture, 74% in satellite manufacturing and operations, and 49% in launch vehicles. Any investment that exceeds these restrictions will require government clearance.

3. The Indian Institute of Horticulture Research (IIHR) will hold a three-day National Horticulture Fair at its Hessarghatta location on the outskirts of Bengaluru from March 5 to 7, 2024. The fair’s theme, “Nextgen technology-led horticulture for sustainable development,” emphasises the use of cutting-edge technologies in horticultural techniques to improve sustainability and increase farmers’ incomes.

4. The inaugural edition of the Naval Commanders’ Conference of 2024 began on March 5, 2024, with an impressive showcase of the Indian Navy’s marine capabilities. The three-day event began with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh boarding at sea to see the Navy’s capacity to execute ‘twin-carrier operations’, demonstrating India’s rising capabilities in preserving maritime dominance through sea-based air power. The ceremony showcased the fighting capabilities of the aircraft carriers INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya.

5. The prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar) will be bestowed upon 94 eminent artists by President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu for the years 2022 and 2023. Music, dance, drama, folk and tribal arts, puppetry, and allied theatre art forms are among the performing arts disciplines in which the awards are presented.

6. The Gevra mine, operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Chhattisgarh, is poised to surpass all other coal mines in Asia, marking a momentous milestone. Recent environmental approval granted the mine the authorization to increase its annual production capacity from the present 52.5 million tonnes to a remarkable 70 million tonnes. The attainment of this significant milestone was facilitated by the joint initiatives of the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The two ministries collaborated in order to streamline the environmental certification procedure for the Gevra mine.

In Chandikhole, Jajpur district, Odisha, on 5 March 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the nation numerous development initiatives with a combined cost of over Rs 19,600 crores and set the cornerstone. The range of initiatives encompasses numerous industries, such as atomic energy, transport and transportation, oil and gas, and railways.
Prime Minister Modi emphasised the importance of these enormous development initiatives in stimulating industrial activities in the area and generating fresh employment prospects throughout the ceremony.
