1. The Supreme Court of India has issued an important ruling, acknowledging the right to protection from the negative consequences of climate change as a basic right under Articles 14 (equality) and 21 (life) of the Indian Constitution.
भारतीय राज्यघटनेच्या कलम 14 (समानता) आणि 21 (जीवन) अंतर्गत मूलभूत अधिकार म्हणून हवामान बदलाच्या नकारात्मक परिणामांपासून संरक्षणाचा अधिकार मान्य करून भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने एक महत्त्वपूर्ण निर्णय दिला आहे.

2. The Supreme Court of India has emphasised the significance of collaboration between the national and state governments in dealing with the allocation of money for drought relief. The court’s comments were made in reaction to a petition submitted by the Karnataka government, requesting the Centre to disburse ₹35,162 crore for drought assistance in light of the state’s terrible tragedy.
भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने दुष्काळ निवारणासाठी निधीचे वाटप करताना राष्ट्रीय आणि राज्य सरकार यांच्यातील सहकार्याच्या महत्त्वावर भर दिला आहे. राज्याच्या भयंकर शोकांतिकेच्या पार्श्वभूमीवर दुष्काळी मदतीसाठी केंद्राला ₹35,162 कोटी वितरित करण्याची विनंती करणाऱ्या कर्नाटक सरकारने सादर केलेल्या याचिकेच्या प्रतिक्रियेत न्यायालयाच्या टिप्पण्या देण्यात आल्या.

3. State-owned and operated in Kochi, Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is the third shipyard in India to sign a Master Shipyard Repair Agreement (MRSA) with the United States Navy. By virtue of this agreement, CSL is granted the privilege to undertake ship repairs for the United States Navy, joining the ranks of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL).

4. Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), a subsidiary of Tata Sons, has successfully deployed India’s inaugural military-grade geospatial satellite, which was constructed exclusively by the private sector. India’s space sector achieved a key milestone with the recent launch of the TSAT-1A satellite, in conjunction with Satellogic.

Last week, an Indonesian delegation, headed by Mochammad Firman Hidayat, Deputy Coordinating Minister of Maritime Resources at the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, visited India. The purpose of their visit was to investigate potential partnerships in different sectors and gain insights from India’s successful implementation of the mid-day meal scheme and digital inclusion initiatives. The visit is taking place in the context of Indonesia’s just completed elections and the incoming administration’s intentions to implement new socio-economic policies.
