1. Lohri is a popular Indian festival that is celebrated to mark the beginning of the harvest season for winter crops. Every year, during the month of Paush, a day before Makar Sankranti – usually on January 13, with much fanfare especially by the people of Punjab, Lohri is celebrated.

2. The National Remote Sensing Center (NSRC) of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has released satellite images of the city of Joshimath, Uttarakhand, which reveal a preliminary land subsidence analysis that indicates that the entire city is in danger of completely sinking.

10. According to government data, the country’s gross direct tax collection of the current fiscal year (FY2023) till January 10 went up 24.58% to Rs 14.71 lakh crore, against the gross collections made in the corresponding period the previous fiscal.
