1. The Central Government’s Green Credit Programme (GCP) is led by Madhya Pradesh. In the last two months, over 500 plots of land in 10 states have been cleared for tree planting. Ten thousand hectares of land have been set aside by these states for the project. The most accepted damaged forest land for planting trees and making the environment greener is said to be in MP (954 hectares), then in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Assam. Aside from Odisha, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, other states have also accepted land lots.

2. The India Meteorological Department says that India will likely get more rain than usual during the monsoon season of 2024. By August or September, La Nina conditions are expected to set in. This guess comes from looking at past records that show more rain than usual during La Nina events that happened after El Nino events. It was El Nino in 2023, which meant that India had weaker monsoon winds and dry weather. The country also got less rain than usual.

3. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is bolstering the security measures at an additional 30 air bases around the nation by implementing a sophisticated, multi-layered, multi-sensor, high-tech surveillance, and intrusion detection system. This action expands upon the implementation of the Integrated Perimeter Security System (IPSS) that is already established at 23 air bases of great importance. Currently, the system is functioning at 17-18 of these locations.

4. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Army have effectively carried out testing of the Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) Weapon System at PFFR in Rajasthan. The MPATGM Weapon System was autonomously conceived and created by DRDO and comprises of the MPATGM, the Man Portable Launcher, the Target Acquisition System (TAS), and the Fire Control Unit (FCU).

5. According to a study by the Manipur Remote Sensing Applications Centre (MARSAC), Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has declared a notable triumph in the state’s battle against opium poppy cultivation. The analysis indicates a 60% reduction in the cultivation area between 2021 and 2024.

6. India’s GDP growth prediction for the fiscal years 2024 and 2025 was updated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in April 2024’s Asia Development prognosis Report. The ADB cited a number of reasons that contributed to this bullish prognosis.
