1. The Government of India’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has just made a recommendation to prohibit the import and reproduction of 23 certain dog breeds in the country. The suggestion was prompted by pleas from non-profit organisations and campaigners, who expressed worries about human attacks, animal cruelty, and the use of specific breeds in illegal dog fighting. Nevertheless, as of March 16, 2024, the proposal has not been ratified as a regulation, and the specific dog breeds are not formally prohibited.

2. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) is a collection of directives promulgated by the Election Commission of India (EC) to govern the behaviour of political parties and candidates during electoral processes. It becomes effective immediately upon the release of the election timetable and continues in effect until the results are revealed.

3. In compliance with a mandate from the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has published comprehensive information about electoral bonds. The data, obtained from the State Bank of India (SBI), provides insight into the primary buyers of electoral bonds and the political parties that have received advantages from this contentious fundraising system. The ECI published two distinct lists on its website – one comprising the names of contributors who acquired the bonds, with the dates and amounts of each transaction, and the other displaying the political parties that redeemed the bonds. During the timeframe from April 1, 2019 to February 15, 2024, a total of 22,217 electoral bonds were bought.

4. The Union Ministry of traffic Transport and Highways has declared the initiation of a pilot initiative aimed at offering medical care without the need for payment to those affected by traffic accidents.
The initiative, set to be initially executed in Chandigarh, aims to guarantee timely medical attention for accident victims, particularly during the crucial ‘golden hour’ after the tragedy.
According to the programme, all individuals involved in traffic accidents in the Union Territory will have the right to receive medical care without having to pay beforehand. The treatment will be valued at a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh per person and would be available for a maximum of seven days starting from the accident date. The project will address motor vehicle accidents occurring on any type of route.

5. The Indian government has taken significant action against streaming services that display unsuitable content by prohibiting 18 over-the-top (OTT) platforms from displaying material that is deemed “obscene, vulgar, and even pornographic,” despite prior warnings. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has imposed restrictions on several platforms, as well as their affiliated websites, mobile applications, and social media accounts, due to their infringement of Indian legislation.The prohibited over-the-top (OTT) services encompass Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Nuefliks, MoodX, Mojflix, Hot Shots VIP, Fugi, Chikooflix, and Prime Play. Furthermore, the ministry has deactivated 19 websites, 10 applications (seven on Google Play Store and three on Apple App Store), and 57 social media profiles associated with these services, in addition to the aforementioned 18 platforms.

6. An eminent group, led by former President Ram Nath Kovind, has proposed a well-defined plan for the implementation of synchronised elections for the Parliament, state legislatures, and local authorities across the nation.

7. The selection committee, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has designated Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, both former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials, as the new Election Commissioners of India. The appointments were scheduled on March 14, 2024, in accordance with the recommendations of the panel.
पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांच्या नेतृत्वाखालील निवड समितीने भारताचे नवे निवडणूक आयुक्त म्हणून ज्ञानेश कुमार आणि सुखबीर सिंग संधू हे दोन्ही माजी भारतीय प्रशासकीय सेवा (IAS) अधिकारी नियुक्त केले आहेत. पॅनेलच्या शिफारशींनुसार 14 मार्च 2024 रोजी नियुक्त्या निश्चित केल्या होत्या.
