| 1. Legal and societal controversy in India has been generated by the Waqf (Amendment) Act of 2025. This law seeks to change the way waqf properties—that which are set aside for Islamic religious and charitable use—are managed. Political and religious organizations have mounted more than seventy petitions against the Act. Petitioners contend that the Act runs against Articles 25 and 26 of the Constitution, therefore violating religious freedom.

| 2. Recent UNCTAD publication “Trade and Development Foresights 2025 – Under Pressure: Uncertainty Reshapes Global Economic Prospects” The analysis projects that growth will drop to only 2.3 percent. This stands in sharp contrast to pre-pandemic rates of increase. Rising trade tensions, financial instability, and growing uncertainty among other things help to explain this collapse.
UNCTAD च्या अलिकडच्या प्रकाशनात “ट्रेड अँड डेव्हलपमेंट फोरसाइट्स २०२५ – अंडर प्रेशर: अनसर्टेन्टी रीशेप्स ग्लोबल इकॉनॉमिक प्रॉस्पेक्ट्स” असे म्हटले आहे की, वाढ केवळ २.३ टक्क्यांपर्यंत घसरेल. हे महामारीपूर्वीच्या वाढीच्या दरांपेक्षा अगदी उलट आहे. वाढता व्यापारी तणाव, आर्थिक अस्थिरता आणि वाढती अनिश्चितता यासह इतर गोष्टी या पतनाला स्पष्ट करण्यास मदत करतात. |
| 3. Starting on April 16, 2025, at the Foreign Training Node in Pune, the sixth iteration of the India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise, Dustlik India and Uzbekistan alternate hosting this biennial event. The exercise intends to increase military cooperation and raise capacities for combined operations in different environments. Personnel from the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army participate in it.

| 4. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has declared the creation of a high-level committee to examine the India’s Centre-State relationship. Under the direction of Justice Kurian Joseph, this committee seeks to uphold Indian state constitutional rights. This project reflects a similar endeavor undertaken approximately 50 years earlier by then Chief Minister C N Annadurai. The historical background highlights continuous worries about the declining authority of states.

| 5. IISR Surya is a new turmeric variety developed recently by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR). This type is intended especially for the masala and powdering sectors. It meets the increasing demand for light-colored turmeric, which presents difficulties for growers in producing. IISR Surya guarantees to improve the availability and quality of turmeric for home and foreign markets.

| 6. Recently, the Registrar General of India (RGI) sent a circular asking hospitals to document births and deaths within twenty-one days. Results showing 10% of such incidents were unregistered set off this process. Under the revised Registration of Birth and Death Act, 1969 the RGI seeks universal registration.

| 7. The World Health Organisation (WHO) just declared agreement meant to improve world readiness for next pandemics. After protracted talks covering more than three years, this agreement reflects a shared dedication to enhance world health security. For ultimate clearance, the agreement will be submitted to the next World Health Assembly In 75 years, this is only the second worldwide agreement of this sort by WHO. The Tobacco Control Treaty from 2003 came first.
