1. In accordance with directives from the Election Commission of India, authorities in Tamil Nadu have, for the first time, placed under surveillance ambit elite clubs and star hotels serving alcoholic beverages prior to the April-May 2024 general election in India.

2. After 2030, the Indian Army intends to replace its ageing T-72 fleet with 1,770 technologically advanced Future Ready Combat Vehicles (FRCVs) through a $57 billion indigenous initiative. 7. In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court declined parole for an individual suspected of involvement in a Khalistan module. The court argued that the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) does not apply to the principle that “jail is the exception, bail is the rule.”
