| 1. The Matsya-6000 submersible is being developed by India’s Deep Ocean Mission, which is making significant progress. The National Institute of Ocean Technology is the project’s leader, and its objective is to improve India’s ocean exploration capabilities. The submersible, which is capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters, will be instrumental in the exploration of ocean resources and the study of marine biodiversity.

| 4. Allegations of a Rs 122 crore fraud have resulted in turmoil at the New India Co-operative Bank in Mumbai. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has implemented stringent regulations on the bank. The bank is prohibited from accepting new deposits, renewing existing advances, or granting new loans as part of these measures. Additionally, depositors are prohibited from withdrawing funds for a period of six months beginning on February 13, 2025. In the face of this crisis, the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) serves as an essential safety net for depositors.

| 7. The sixth edition of Exercise Dharma Guardian is set to take place at Mount Fuji, Japan from February 25 to March 9, 2025. This joint military exercise between India and Japan aims to enhance interoperability between their armed forces. It focuses on urban warfare and counter-terrorism operations under a United Nations mandate. The exercise follows the successful visit of India’s Chief of the Army Staff to Japan in October 2024, which laid the groundwork for stronger bilateral defence cooperation.

| 8. The Indian government initiated the National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations (NAKSHA) program. It aims to establish and preserve land records in semi-urban and metropolitan areas. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the campaign in Madhya Pradesh. It encompasses 152 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) throughout more than 26 states and three Union Territories. The project is fully funded by the national government, with an anticipated expenditure of ₹194 crore.
