| 1. India reached a big goal by getting among the top 100 countries on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Index. The Sustainable Development Report ranks countries based on how well they are doing in reaching the 17 SDGs set in 2015. India is 99th out of 193 nations, with a score of 67. This shows a big step forward in its dedication to sustainable development. Advertisement
संयुक्त राष्ट्रांच्या शाश्वत विकास ध्येय (SDGs) निर्देशांकात भारताने पहिल्या १०० देशांमध्ये स्थान मिळवून एक मोठे ध्येय गाठले आहे. २०१५ मध्ये निश्चित केलेल्या १७ शाश्वत विकास ध्येयांपर्यंत पोहोचण्यात देश किती चांगले काम करत आहेत या आधारावर शाश्वत विकास अहवालात देशांची क्रमवारी लावण्यात आली आहे. ६७ गुणांसह भारत १९३ राष्ट्रांपैकी ९९ व्या स्थानावर आहे. हे शाश्वत विकासासाठीच्या त्याच्या समर्पणातील एक मोठे पाऊल दर्शवते. |
| 2. India asked for a break in the Ratle and Kishanganga hydroelectric projects, which are being fought over with Pakistan. The World Bank chose Michel Lino, an impartial expert, to handle the disagreements. The Indian government’s decision to put the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) on hold has made things worse between the two countries. The IWT sets rules for sharing water from the Indus River system, which is important for both nations.

| 3. The Nipah virus is a hazard to public health because it may spread quickly and kill a lot of people. India just took a big step forward in the fight against this illness. The National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune produced a portable test kit that can find the Nipah virus in a matter of minutes. This new idea is really important for places like Kerala and West Bengal, where outbreaks happen a lot.

| 4. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has taken steps to improve the armed forces’ capacities. It has made 28 of its current armament systems available for emergency purchase. This project fits with the government’s aim for defense industry to be more self-sufficient. The Army, Navy, and Air Force can buy new weapons or replace old ones as needed through emergency procurement.

| 5. The US used Operation Midnight Hammer to attack three important Iranian nuclear sites: Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. Iran’s parliament voted to seal the Strait of Hormuz in response.The US attack used B-2 Stealth Bombers, GBU-57 bunker buster bombs (also known as Massive Ordnance Penetrators), and Tomahawk missiles.

| 6. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) published the State of Climate in Asia 2024 report, which showed that Asia warmed up about twice as quickly as the world average in 2024, making it the warmest or second-hottest year on record.

| 7. The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA) is the biggest tribal empowerment initiative ever. It has reached over 1 lakh tribal communities in 31 States/UTs, including 207 PVTG districts. | 8. The National Sample Survey (NSS) will be used by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) to do India’s first full Household Income Survey in 2026. The Field Operations Division of the National Statistical Office (NSO), which used to be called the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), does the NSS.
