2. The Union Cabinet has passed a resolution recommending the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha. The Cabinet met in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and took a decision in this regard. Now, Mr Modi will meet President Ram Nath Kovind.

4. Standard Chartered has officially launched the Trade AI Engine, a joint solution developed in partnership with IBM. It has been launched to enhance the client experience in trade document processing through increased operational efficiency and strengthened operational control.

5. Paytm Payments Bank announced it has turned profitable within its second year of operations, posting a ₹19-crore profit for the financial year 2018-19.

6. India’s crude oil imports jumped 14% year-on-year in April to 19.72 million tonnes, the highest since October 2018. Oil imports from Iran had fallen 57% year-on-year in April after waiver from US sanctions on Iran ended recently.
एप्रिल महिन्यात कच्च्या तेलाचे आयात 14% वाढून 19.72 दशलक्ष टनांवर गेले, जो ऑक्टोबर 2018 पासून सर्वात जास्त आहे. इराणमधील अमेरिकेच्या मंजुरीनंतर नुकत्याच संपलेल्या एप्रिल महिन्यात इराणमधील तेल आयात 57 टक्क्यांनी घसरली होती.

7. German payments company Wirecard would work with India to simplify the process of issuing tax identity cards required to open bank accounts, transfer money or complete business transactions.

8. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj represented India in the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
