1. Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, has released India’s first nationwide snow leopard population assessment report, titled “Status Report of Snow Leopards in India”.
The assessment estimates 718 snow leopards in India based on systematic surveys that cover more than 70% of their potential habitat between 2019 and 2023. The Wildlife Institute of India oversaw the Snow Leopard Population Assessment in India (SPAI) programme across the snow leopard range states.
भूपेंद्र यादव, केंद्रीय पर्यावरण, वन आणि हवामान बदल मंत्री, यांनी “भारतातील हिम बिबट्यांचा स्थिती अहवाल” या शीर्षकाने भारतातील पहिला देशव्यापी हिम बिबट्या लोकसंख्या मूल्यांकन अहवाल प्रसिद्ध केला आहे.

2. The Tamil Nadu government has issued guidelines for the “Ungalai Thedi, Ungal Ooril” (Come Look For You, In Your Village) outreach programme, which was spearheaded by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and aimed to improve public services and scheme implementation throughout the state.

3. Kenya has announced the discovery of coltan deposits within its borders for the first time. Coltan, short for columbite-tantalite, is a valuable mineral made up of niobium and tantalum that is used to make electronics such as smartphones and electric car batteries.

4. According to the most recent International Energy Agency (IEA) projections in the Electricity 2024 Report, India’s electricity demand will surpass China’s and have the world’s fastest growth rate by 2026.The annual average growth rate in India’s electricity demand is expected to be 6.5% between 2024 and 2026. India’s additional electricity demand over the next three years will be nearly equal to the total demand in the United Kingdom due to its rapid growth.
विद्युत 2024 अहवालातील सर्वात अलीकडील इंटरनॅशनल एनर्जी एजन्सी (IEA) च्या अंदाजानुसार, भारताची विजेची मागणी चीनला मागे टाकेल आणि 2026 पर्यंत जगातील सर्वात वेगवान विकास दर असेल. 2024 ते 2026 दरम्यान भारताच्या विजेच्या मागणीतील वार्षिक सरासरी वाढीचा दर 6.5% असण्याची अपेक्षा आहे. वेगवान वाढीमुळे पुढील तीन वर्षांत भारताची अतिरिक्त विजेची मागणी युनायटेड किंगडममधील एकूण मागणीच्या जवळपास असेल.

5. The mascot and logo for the 2024 Khelo India Winter Games were recently revealed. Keeping with the region’s biodiversity, a snow leopard named ‘Sheen-e She’ or Shan has been named the official mascot. The logo incorporates the Indian tricolour as well as Ladakhi symbols.
2024 च्या खेलो इंडिया हिवाळी खेळांसाठी शुभंकर आणि लोगो नुकतेच समोर आले. प्रदेशातील जैवविविधता लक्षात घेऊन ‘शीन-ए शी’ किंवा शान नावाच्या हिम बिबट्याला अधिकृत शुभंकर असे नाव देण्यात आले आहे. लोगोमध्ये भारतीय तिरंगा तसेच लद्दाखी चिन्हांचा समावेश आहे.
