1. An junior professor at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Centre named Dr. Michael Gottlieb started the search for AIDS by mistake at the start of 1981. The patient had pneumocystis pneumonia, a rare illness that makes people lose weight quickly and for no obvious reason. Dr. Gottlier asked a post-doc to look at the patient while he was teaching immunology. Like the first case, five more were added to the study, which led to a major piece in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. This was the first written record of what it was before it was known as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

5. September 2, 2023, marked the commencement of the Aditya-L1 spacecraft’s journey towards the Sun. India’s inaugural mission to investigate the sun. L1, the Lagrangian point, was effectively achieved on January 6, 2024, a mere 127 days after launch. It is situated in a critical point approximately 1.5 million kilometres from Earth. The site at L1 is crucial because it provides the spacecraft with a clear view of the Sun, which facilitates the continuous monitoring of the Sun.

In June 2024, the United Nations published a significant study titled “The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2024.” According to the report, Catla (Labeo catla) was the eighth most fished marine species in 2022, with a yield exceeding four million tonnes. Catla is indigenous to the river systems of northern India and the surrounding regions, including the Indus plain and portions of Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Pakistan. This species has been introduced to numerous river systems, resulting in its widespread presence in numerous reservoirs and tanks throughout India.
