4. There have been several instances of Forest Fires in the Himalayan Region especially in Himachal and Uttarakhand this winter because of a lack of precipitation. As per the Forest Survey of India (FSI), there have been 2,050 incidents of forest fires between 16th October 2023 and 16th January 2024, but there were just 296 incidents of forest fires during the same period last year.

1. The New Dry Dock (NDD) at Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) of CSL, and the LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) were recently inaugurated in Kochi, Kerala, by the Prime Minister (PM).

2. Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal announced the upcoming Trade Connect ePlatform to boost MSME and startup participation in exports. It was announced at the second meeting of the reconstituted Board of Trade. The portal aims to promote exports by small and medium traders and will be operational in 3-4 months.

1. The World Economic Forum (WEF) is holding its Annual Meeting from 15th January to 19th January, 2024 in Davos, Switzerland.

2. Government of India has notified the ANUBHAV Awards Scheme 2024. To participate in the scheme, retiring Central Government employees/pensioners are required to submit their Anubhav write ups, 8 months prior to retirement and up to 1 year after their retirement.

3. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Cabo Verde as a Malaria-free country. Cabo Verde now joins Mauritius and Algeria as the third country in the WHO African region to be certified as malaria-free.

1. The International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City in Gandhinagar announced a new collaboration with the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC). The goal is to jointly develop a Global Hydrogen Price Index.

2. The World Economic Forum (WEF) recently released a report assessing global cooperation trends across five key areas, including health and wellness. The report found that prior to 2020, global health cooperation indicators were slowly but steadily improving. However, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, global cooperation on health has started to decline.
