1. Former prime ministers P.V. Narasimha Rao and Charan Singh, as well as scientist M.S. Swaminathan, will be awarded India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna. The awards recognise their enormous contributions to India’s growth and prosperity.

2. NASA has begun conducting marathon research flights across Asia in an effort to improve air pollution forecasting models. The flights will collect detailed data on air pollution sources and behaviour to improve public warning systems. Every year, air pollution contributes to millions of deaths. The flights use NASA’s DC-8 flying laboratory, the world’s largest aircraft designed for airborne science missions. Beginning in the Philippines, the DC-8 will fly for up to 8 hours at a time, sometimes as low as 15 metres above the ground, to collect air pollution particles for analysis.

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently released a report titled ‘Finances of Panchayati Raj Institutions’ for fiscal year 2022-23, which sheds light on the financial dynamics of India’s Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI).

4. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning significant changes to the academic framework for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12 as part of its plan to implement creditisation, as recommended by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

5. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently responded to the Rajya Sabha’s Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to Parliament, highlighting key milestones in India’s journey to the 75th Republic Day.

6.
