1. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared that stores and establishments in Mumbai failing to exhibit signboards in Marathi or Devanagari script will be subject to double property tax as of May 1, 2024. Consistent with the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Rules and a recent Supreme Court directive, this action is taken in an effort by the BMC to mandate the use of Marathi on signboards.
बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिका (BMC) ने घोषित केले आहे की मुंबईतील दुकाने आणि आस्थापने मराठी किंवा देवनागरी लिपीमध्ये साइनबोर्ड प्रदर्शित करण्यास अयशस्वी ठरल्यास 1 मे 2024 पासून दुप्पट मालमत्ता कर लागू केला जाईल. महाराष्ट्र दुकाने आणि आस्थापना नियम आणि अलीकडील सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाच्या निर्देशानुसार बीएमसीने साइनबोर्डवर मराठीचा वापर अनिवार्य करण्याच्या प्रयत्नात ही कारवाई केली आहे.

2. Since its inception in 2019, the Special Window for Affordable and Mid-Income Housing (SWAMIH) Fund, which is supported by the central government, has been instrumental in the successful completion of more than 28,000 residential properties. 3. The Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) commenced its five-year survey in May 2021 with the objective of mapping the cosmos and investigating the properties of dark energy. The initial results of the DESI measurements, which encompassed light from 6 million galaxies spanning up to 11 billion years in age, suggest the possibility of variations in the amount of dark energy. This poses a challenge to existing theoretical theories.
डार्क एनर्जी स्पेक्ट्रोस्कोपिक इन्स्ट्रुमेंट (DESI) ने मे 2021 मध्ये कॉसमॉसचे मॅपिंग आणि गडद उर्जेच्या गुणधर्मांची तपासणी करण्याच्या उद्देशाने पाच वर्षांचे सर्वेक्षण सुरू केले. DESI मोजमापांचे प्रारंभिक परिणाम, ज्यामध्ये 6 दशलक्ष आकाशगंगांचा प्रकाश 11 अब्ज वर्षे वयापर्यंतचा आहे, गडद उर्जेच्या प्रमाणात फरक होण्याची शक्यता सूचित करतात. हे विद्यमान सैद्धांतिक सिद्धांतांना आव्हान देते.

4. The Supreme Court of India issued a momentous verdict on April 9, 2024, pertaining to the electoral candidates’ right to privacy. The judgement was made in response to a challenge submitted by Arunachal Pradesh MLA Karikho Kri, who contested a ruling by the Gauhati High Court that invalidated his election because he failed to disclose three automobiles as assets in his affidavit.

5. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has identified India as one of the countries with a substantial prevalence of viral hepatitis, including Hepatitis B and C infections, according to the newly published Global Hepatitis Report 2024.

6. The Global Leaders Group (GLG) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) has published a study titled “Towards specific commitments and action in the response to antimicrobial resistance” in anticipation of a high-level conference on AMR at the United Nations General Assembly.
