1. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), India has moved up two positions to rank 74th on a global ‘Energy Transition Index’ with improvements on all key parameters of economic growth, energy security and environmental sustainability.

2. In a major announcement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and Tax Collected at Source (TCS) have been reduced by 25 per cent till 31st March of next year.

9. Researchers have found that men seem to be more vulnerable to COVID-19 than women. It suggested the reason might be related to the concentration of the enzyme Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) in the blood of men and women.

4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the abolition of 9,304 posts in the Engineer-in-Chief of Military Engineering Services (MES). The move was aimed to optimize more than 9,300 posts in the basic and industrial workforce as per the recommendations of the Committee of Experts, headed by Lieutenant General Shekatkar.

9. Indian Navy recently designed and produced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The PPE was tested and approved by the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Delhi which is a DRDO organization tasked with the testing and certification of PPE.

10. The Iranian Parliament has announced the decision to replace its currency “Rial” with another basic unit of currency called the “Toman.” Each toman will be worth 10,000 rials under the new system.
