1. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis decided to convene an all-party meeting on the backdrop of ongoing Maratha protest. The party leaders of both the Houses will discuss the issues associated with Maratha reservation.The meeting will be held in Vidhan Sabha.
महाराष्ट्राचे मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी मराठा निदर्शनाची पार्श्वभूमी असलेल्या सर्वपक्षीय बैठकीचे आयोजन करण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. दोन्ही सदस्यांचे पक्षाचे नेते मराठा आरक्षणाशी संबंधित मुद्द्यांवर चर्चा करतील. ही बैठक विधानसभेत होणार आहे.

2. The union government has extended the due date for filing income tax returns for certain taxpayers by one month till 31st August 2018.

2. The 6th India-UK Science & Innovation Council (SIC) meeting held in New Delhi discussed a range of issues on S&T cooperation between the two countries

3. The government gave final approval to the mega merger of Vodafone and Idea Cellular. It will create the country’s largest mobile operator with 35% market share and around 430 million subscribers.

4. Invest India and Business France have signed a MoU to promote investment facilitation and cooperation between startups of India and France.

5. West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi inaugurated the 18th International Children’s Film Festival in the state. 36 films from 17 countries would be screened in this Festival.

7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 10th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The theme of this year’s summit is, ‘BRICS in Africa – collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th industrial revolution’.

India topped the list of skilled visa immigrants in Australia.For those coming to Australia on the skilled visa, India with 2,34,395 individuals (19 per cent) bagged the top rank, followed by England and China at 160,558 (13 per cent) and 146,842 (12 per cent) people, respectively. According to a data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), 1,54,012 Indians have acquired Australian citizenship.

1. The station named after Lord Elphinstone, the Governor of Bombay Presidency from 1853 to 1860, has been rechristened as Prabhadevi in honour of a local deity of the same name and to erase a “colonial” name. This renaming was first proposed by Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote in 1991.

1. The Cabinet approved Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2018, to set up Central University in Andhra Pradesh. Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted that the Central University of Andhra Pradesh will start its academic session on 5th August. Also, this will result in more facilities for Andhra Pradesh in higher education.
