The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) have recently announced that they will be collaborating to develop a new instrument that can predict the movement of ships, thereby enhancing the safety of the seas. In order to formalise this initiative, the two organisations executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

6. On July 4, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of India published proposed regulations for the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN). The objective is to enhance and broaden the efforts to connect individuals to the Internet, particularly in impoverished urban, rural, and remote regions. This proposal modifies the existing Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) by shifting funds to facilitate the expansion and accessibility of phone services.

4. The total amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Gujarat during the fiscal year 2023–24 has increased significantly, reaching a total of USD 7.3 billion. As a result of this 55% increase from the previous year, the state is now the second-highest recipient of FDI in India, following Maharashtra. The state government’s implementation of numerous effective policies and programmes is responsible for the increase in FDI, which totals USD 2.6 billion in comparison to the fiscal year 2022–2023. Gujarat has received a greater amount of foreign capital than the combined capital of Karnataka and Delhi. It is currently second only to Maharashtra, which received USD 15.1 billion during the same period.
