The initiative was inaugurated by Chief Minister Champai Soren on March 6, 2024.

6. The Gevra mine, operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Chhattisgarh, is poised to surpass all other coal mines in Asia, marking a momentous milestone. Recent environmental approval granted the mine the authorization to increase its annual production capacity from the present 52.5 million tonnes to a remarkable 70 million tonnes. The attainment of this significant milestone was facilitated by the joint initiatives of the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The two ministries collaborated in order to streamline the environmental certification procedure for the Gevra mine.
