6. In order to increase employment contentment, the Border Security Force (BSF) has implemented new directives from the Directorate General (DG) for non-gazetted officers.
As the new guidelines are implemented, there is an increase in the number of early retirements. According to data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, more than 46,000 personnel from the six Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) retired early over the past five years (2019-2023), with the BSF contributing more than 21,000 of those.
