The rule covers social media platforms available in the UAE or targeting users in the country, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) claimed the top spot globally for the 15th consecutive year with a clean sweep of 100 points in the overall score. India observed the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on 17 June 2026 in 813 project areas under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana 2.0 (WDC-PMKSY 2.0). The programme is implemented by the Watershed Management Division of the Department of Land Resources in the Ministry of Rural Development.

4. The 10th Thailand-India Defence Dialogue was held on 16 June 2026 in Bangkok. Bilateral defense cooperation, military-to-military engagements, capacity-building initiatives, training exchanges, maritime cooperation and regional security issues in the Indo-Pacific region were discussed.

5. Archaeologists have announced the discovery of a princely grave near Bad Camberg in Hesse, Germany, during excavations connected with a solar park. The burial belongs to the early La Tène period, i.e. to the middle of the first millennium BCE, and the grave goods consist of gold jewellery, fragments of weapons and a bronze jug imported from Etruria.

6. On June 17, 2026, scientists from the western regional centre of the Zoological Survey of India in Pune announced a new forester moth species from Karnataka’s Kali Tiger Reserve. It is the first addition to the genus Mimeusemia in almost three decades and is named Mimeusemia kali Kalawate & László, 2026.

7. The High-Level Clearance Authority of Odisha approved 20 industrial projects on June 17, 2026. The proposals are for a total investment of ₹76,611.86 crore and envisage 50,517 jobs in nine districts.

1. Indian Railways approved a number of projects on June 15, 2026, for the deployment of Kavach 4.0, the indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system. The approved works are under the railway safety programme which includes route-based deployment, locomotive installation and communication upgrade.

भारतीय रेल्वेने 15 जून 2026 रोजी, स्वदेशी बनावटीच्या ‘कवच 4.0’ या स्वयंचलित रेल्वे संरक्षण प्रणालीच्या तैनातीसाठी अनेक प्रकल्पांना मंजुरी दिली. मंजूर झालेली ही कामे रेल्वे सुरक्षा कार्यक्रमांतर्गत येतात, ज्यामध्ये मार्ग-आधारित तैनाती, लोकोमोटिव्ह स्थापना आणि दळणवळण प्रणालीचे आधुनिकीकरण यांचा समावेश आहे.

2. The Centre has extended the tenure of the Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal and Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal by one year through gazette notifications issued on June 15, 2026. Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal was constituted in April 1986 and Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal was constituted in April 2004.

The event is being organised by WindEurope and the Global Wind Energy Council to promote wind energy as a renewable source of power. On 15 June 2026, India will host the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa with the theme “Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration”.

Uttar Pradesh has begun providing indigenous cow-milk products including Skyr to the Indian Army under a dairy scheme associated with cow preservation, employment in rural areas and milk manufacturing. Products are made from milk of indigenous breeds like Gir and Sahiwal. The initiative also uses advanced dairy technologies associated with Denmark and Iceland.

5. 13 June 2026 President Droupadi Murmu reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. An epigraphical survey of the Nallamala Tiger Reserve Forest was undertaken and completed on 13th June 2026 in which the Epigraphy Branch of Archaeological Survey of India recorded and copied 25 ancient inscriptions. The inscriptions date from a period of nearly 1,400 years, from the 2nd century CE to the 16th century CE and are in Telugu, Kannada, Prakrit and Brahmi script.

1. On June 11, 2026, China rejected several consignments of Indian dried red chillies and temporarily suspended three Indian exporting companies. This action followed detection of alleged excessive methamidophos, an organophosphate insecticide, in the consignments.

In 11 districts, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) placed para-police forces at border frontiers under an integrated border management mechanism with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). 8. India’s Gross Domestic Product growth is projected at 6.6% for the fiscal year 2026-27 by the World Bank in its Global Economic Prospects report released on June 11, 2026. The projection assumes a projected growth of 7.7 per cent in fiscal year 2025-26 and India is projected to remain the fastest-growing major economy during the period.

1. A study by the University of Oxford on 10 June 2026 ranked Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai among the world’s 50 urban centres at significant risk to heat. The study, published in the journal Sustainable Cities and Societies, measured heat risk by looking at the level of hazard exposure, the vulnerability of the population and their ability to cope.

5. The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, said Thursday the number of people forced to flee their homes worldwide fell in 2025 – the first decline in a decade. At the end of 2025, 117.8 million people were estimated to be forcibly displaced worldwide, down from 123.2 million at the end of 2024.

1. In June 2026, Madhya Pradesh scrapped the two-child norm for eligibility in government jobs and for serving employees. The state government has asked the General Administration Department to remove the provision from the draft rules for civil services.

जून 2026 मध्ये, मध्य प्रदेशने सरकारी नोकऱ्यांसाठी पात्रतेबाबत आणि सेवेतील कर्मचाऱ्यांसाठी लागू असलेला ‘दोन मुलांचा नियम’ रद्द केला. राज्य सरकारने सामान्य प्रशासन विभागाला नागरी सेवांच्या नियमांच्या मसुद्यातून ही तरतूद काढून टाकण्यास सांगितले आहे.

2. The Centre has approved a ₹1,359-crore project on 10 June 2026 for four-laning of the Nagaur-Bikaner stretch of National Highway-62 in Rajasthan. The project will be implemented under Build-Operate-Transfer model which is a public-private partnership model adopted in highway development.

केंद्र सरकारने 10 जून 2026 रोजी राजस्थानमधील राष्ट्रीय महामार्ग-६२ वरील नागौर-बिकानेर पट्ट्याचे चौपदरीकरण करण्यासाठी 1,359 कोटी रुपयांच्या प्रकल्पाला मंजुरी दिली आहे. हा प्रकल्प ‘बांधा-वापरा-हस्तांतरित करा’ (Build-Operate-Transfer) या तत्त्वावर राबविला जाईल; हे महामार्ग विकासासाठी स्वीकारले जाणारे सार्वजनिक-खाजगी भागीदारीचे (PPP) एक प्रारूप आहे.

3. Union Cabinet on 10 June 2026 approved Phase 2A of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project . The project is a 6.032 km extension from Koteshwar Road to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The estimated cost including interest during construction is ₹2,169.04 crore.

केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने 10 जून 2026 रोजी अहमदाबाद मेट्रो रेल प्रकल्पाच्या ‘फेज 2ए’ (Phase 2A) ला मंजुरी दिली. हा प्रकल्प गुजरातच्या अहमदाबादमधील कोटेश्वर रोड ते सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल आंतरराष्ट्रीय विमानतळ या दरम्यानचा 6.032 किमी लांबीचा विस्तार आहे. बांधकामाच्या कालावधीतील व्याजासह या प्रकल्पाचा अंदाजित खर्च 2,169.04 कोटी रुपये इतका आहे.

4. Research on extraterrestrial photosynthesis has looked at how plants or microbes could evolve on planets that orbit two or three stars. The studies have looked at the effects of the colour, intensity, and ultraviolet output of starlight on foliage, pigments, and survival strategies on circumbinary planets.

5. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Project GANGA in Lucknow on June 9, 2026. GANGA stands for Government Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement. It is a project to provide rural households in Uttar Pradesh with fibre based broadband connectivity.

उत्तर प्रदेशचे मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ यांनी 9 जून 2026 रोजी लखनौमध्ये ‘प्रोजेक्ट गंगा’चा शुभारंभ केला. ‘गंगा’ म्हणजे ‘गव्हर्नमेंट असिस्टेड नेटवर्क फॉर ग्रोथ अँड ॲडव्हान्समेंट’. उत्तर प्रदेशातील ग्रामीण कुटुंबांना फायबर आधारित ब्रॉडबँड कनेक्टिव्हिटी प्रदान करण्याचा हा एक प्रकल्प आहे.

6. Meta Platforms Inc. and Reliance Industries Ltd. on June 10, 2026, announced an agreement to develop and lease an artificial intelligence data centre in India. Reliance Industries will establish a 168-megawatt AI-enabled plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat, and Meta will lease the capacity.

10 जून 2026 रोजी, मेटा प्लॅटफॉर्म्स इंक. आणि रिलायन्स इंडस्ट्रीज लिमिटेड यांनी भारतात कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्तेवर (AI) आधारित डेटा सेंटर विकसित करण्याबाबत आणि ते भाडेतत्त्वावर घेण्याबाबत एका कराराची घोषणा केली. रिलायन्स इंडस्ट्रीज गुजरातच्या जामनगरमध्ये 168-मेगावॅट क्षमतेचा AI-सक्षम प्रकल्प उभारणार असून, मेटा ही क्षमता भाडेतत्त्वावर घेणार आहे.

7. On 9 June 2026, NASA announced the four-person prime crew for Artemis III at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The mission, scheduled to launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida in late 2027, is part of the Artemis programme that utilises the Orion spacecraft and commercial human landing systems.

9 जून 2026 रोजी, ह्युस्टन येथील जॉन्सन स्पेस सेंटरमध्ये नासाने ‘आर्टेमिस 3’ (Artemis III) मोहिमेसाठीच्या चार सदस्यांच्या मुख्य चमूची घोषणा केली. फ्लोरिडातील केनेडी स्पेस सेंटरमधून २०२७ च्या उत्तरार्धात प्रक्षेपित होणारी ही मोहीम ‘आर्टेमिस’ कार्यक्रमाचा एक भाग आहे; या कार्यक्रमात ‘ओरियन’ अंतराळयान आणि मानवांना चंद्रावर उतरवणाऱ्या व्यावसायिक प्रणालींचा वापर केला जातो.

8. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Land Port Management System (LPMS) named VINIMAY in New Delhi on 9 June 2026. VINIMAY is a centralised digital platform for land ports in India and it facilitates cargo, passenger and vehicle processing on a single interface.
