India topped the list of skilled visa immigrants in Australia.For those coming to Australia on the skilled visa, India with 2,34,395 individuals (19 per cent) bagged the top rank, followed by England and China at 160,558 (13 per cent) and 146,842 (12 per cent) people, respectively. According to a data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), 1,54,012 Indians have acquired Australian citizenship.

1. The station named after Lord Elphinstone, the Governor of Bombay Presidency from 1853 to 1860, has been rechristened as Prabhadevi in honour of a local deity of the same name and to erase a “colonial” name. This renaming was first proposed by Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote in 1991.

1. The Cabinet approved Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2018, to set up Central University in Andhra Pradesh. Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted that the Central University of Andhra Pradesh will start its academic session on 5th August. Also, this will result in more facilities for Andhra Pradesh in higher education.
केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडळाने आंध्रप्रदेशमधील केंद्रीय विद्यापीठाची स्थापना करण्यासाठी विद्यापीठ (संशोधन) विधेयक 2018 मंजूर केले. केंद्रीय मंत्री प्रकाश जावडेकर यांनी ट्विट केले की, आंध्र प्रदेशाच्या केंद्रीय विद्यापीठात 5 ऑगस्ट रोजी शैक्षणिक सत्र सुरू होईल. तसेच, यामुळे आंध्र प्रदेश उच्च शिक्षणासाठी अधिक सुविधा मिळतील.

2. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is prepared to take the construction of the proposed Greenfield Airport at Bhogapuram. In the past, the Government of Andhra Pradesh had cancelled the tender called for the construction of Bhogapuram Airport. The AAI has now expressed its interest to develop the airport in the fresh bids.

1. According to data speed tester Ookla, India ranks 109th in overall 4G mobile internet speeds with an average download speed of 9.12 Mbps which is less than Pakistan (14.03 Mbps). Out of the list comprising 124 countries, Qatar ranked first in the list with 63.22 Mbps average download speed. Norway stood second in the list with 62.14 Mbps download speed.

1. Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the Centre is planning to set up one National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) in every State to meet the rising demand for skilled manpower in the country. He laid the foundation stone of country’s first such skill training institute at Barang near Bhubaneswar.
