1. A new study has revealed that 37 out of 42 African raptor species analyzed have experienced significant population declines of around 88% in the past 40 years. Out of these, 29 species constituting 69% have seen drops over 3 generation lengths that qualify them as globally threatened under IUCN criteria of endangerment.

2. In January 2023, US-based short seller Hindenburg Research published a report alleging several improper dealings by Indian conglomerate Adani Group headed by Gautam Adani. The report accused the group of stock manipulation, use of offshore shell companies, and raising debt through public banks to fund unprofitable capital spending among other things. This sparked a massive sell-off of Adani group stocks resulting in the loss of over Rs 4 lakh crore in market value over two days.
